I have a 44 front with the 1ton outters (d60 external lockouts).
I want to swap my 60 hubs for 44 hubs with the internal lockouts.

What all would you guys forsee as problems besides maybe outer shaft swap.
Will I need a new spindle? Are the knuckles the same since they are both dual piston?

Biggest problem is knowing what you have. No Dana 44 ever came with "1 ton outers" There are 44's with much stronger "outers" then other 44's... Even a Heavy Duty 44 that has some parts that some fronts 60's had... but they are much older and rare 60's. Plus the parts are weaker then what I'd guess your looking for.


DO you have the BOM of your axle?
Do you have disk brakes?
