I want to put them on my 89 ranger. the mirrors are a better design and fold in and I need to replace my doors anyway. what other things need to be addressed if its possible?

most likely, they look the same. you might need to put the front clip on also. but don't quote me.

I think they should fit but they are slightly different. There is an extra beltline crease on the Ranger/Bronco II body that Explorers don't have so it might look funny.
