I want to buy a nice timing light and would like to know what everyone likes. My only requirements are that it be inductive and feature advance adjustment either through a knob or some other means and be under $200.

i never understood why one would need an advance adjustment knob... none of them work with msd, mallory, or any other multiple spark cd system anyway. i've got a simple sun light, tough as nails. spend the extra $150 you've got budgeted on an igniton box or other parts instead. my .02.

The craftsman professional is $70, inductive, and it has the advance. It has help up well, but then again it sees limited use. Think about it, how many different companies make timing lights? 2? 3 maybe? they are all the same id bet, aside from the label.

I also have the Craftsman Pro, but got it on sale for like 50 something, I think normal price is 90 or so. Not rocket science, and for most of us, not going to be used that much, so why spend a bundle? And frankly, I have always timed by ear for the most part and only bought this to eliminate variables while doing some custom tuning work on an EFI.
