Hmm I don't know. The Hertel 7/8" deming goes for $21, and the Cleveland Twist 7/8" Deming goes for $41.

I don't know who Viking is. I've always been told Cleveland and Chicago/Latrobe were the premiums. I use Hertel.

If it is premium, then it's not out of line with the Cleveland drill at JL Industrial.

A cheapy that size goes for $19-25 that price seems reasonable to me.

Any endmill and a rotary table? Or can it be slightly crowned in the center?

Viking makes reputable stuff, known mostly for thier body sanders but they also make USA made die grinders. They Make drill presses too, lower end models come from asia, but thier HD industrial models are made in Europe somewhere.

Also, black and gold means its probably black and bronze oxide coated.
That price seems to be right on par.
