It's a 50's Dodge Power Wagon with a Willock swivel frame, made in Canada.

thought about it... but i couldnt work out how to deal with the rear driveshaft. i finally figured that the swivel would have to be as close as possible to the TC output to eliminate weird angles. i still may attempt to build one someday, but not this year!

Where would the drivetrain go? Does the rear drive shaft go thru the "Swivel"?

no why whould it

if you out put is directly center so your drive shaft is directly under the swivel ther should be no problem

The drive shaft runs just like normal. with the Piviot near the transfercase output it would piviot so close to it that it would not really be an issue.

The axle is pivoting around the center much like when the axle articulates the rest of the time.

Of course like anything else it does have it's limits.....

Sorry, I was thinking shorter wheel base such as mine is now. 100 inch wheel base and taking probably 8 to 10 inches of that with the swivel portion, no way it would work with my current set up.

But longer wheel base like the pics above....hhmmmm

What what it drives like on the highway? Would it lock in place? hhhmmmm

hey, cool find Hooder!
there's a guy building up a rig somewhere in the Suzuki section here(i think.....:rasta: ) that has mounted his front shackle mounts on a swivel frame run horizontally across under the front bumper more or less- looked much like this (in it's own way) very neat looking though.

well if you were building it your self
I see no reason why you could not run a
shaft thrue the swivel point.

There's a rig here similar to that. The torque would sometimes lift a front wheel on that thing.

I remember seeing a kit like that a few years back in one of the mags (Peterson's?). The big problem I see is that there is really no suspension. If I were to do something like that, I think I'd want a big torsion spring between the two sides. A lock for the highway (if applicable) would be a good idear, too.

That is the thing you say in pertersones. Dustball do you have any more pics of that thing?

a lockout would be a good idea for street driving.
Soni Honneger(sp?) maker of the scorpion rigs, has a twisting subframe, i like his because of the way the suspension is tied together acting like a torsional equlizer of sorts.
seems like a two peice frame like the one pictured would be very unpredictable, wich could explain the pre-production disapearance.

That's the green monster sitting at the farm in chaska isn't it? I drive past that thing everyday, never got close enough to see that it had a swiveling frame.

Gamma Goats were discontinued from the army because they liked to tip over a lot!! They act like a whip. If you could add some type of torsion to it like the Scorpion it might work but otherwise you would need a round cage so you could flip back on you tires!! LOL. I think the green truck is a bogger from missouri. Named sumpin Dragon or sumpin:rolleyes:

I don't know where the owner lives but I did take the pic while at Mud and More in Buffalo. Here's another pic of it-

Nice pictures, that's pretty cool:D

You could run the brake lines, gas lines & wiring all bundled just below the pivot point

Driveshaft can run just about normal

Where do you run the exhaust?
I guess you could go with stacks behind the cab

Anybody have some more pictures? I seem to remember seeing some oil rigs that had a similar pivot point...

I don't have picture posting ability so here's a link. It's worth going to cool stuff to read about it.

Pretty amazing "monstertruck". All hydraulic 460 Ford motor (bored to 495) no tranny, no transfercase, no driveshaft, no ujoint, no suspension, no steering linkage, no front or rear drive shaft. Can turn 360 degrees in its own wheelbase (it's 20 ft long). Can do wheel stands all day long and turn 360 when it is.

Oh and swivel frame.
