I found some nice 39.5 boggers, but not sure what issues I'll have clearing them with a 4 in lift on my trusty '78 Bronco. Cutting off mass amounts of sheetmetal is no concern, but are these tires going to be too big? I fear they will strain the D44 and rub like heck (front and rear in full flex mode). Any previous experiences to be shared here?
This is a kneejerk reaction to a blowed out 35 in bogger. Cheap basturd here wants to do the most with the least $. But being the cheap bassterd, I don't want to cause more damage than my cashflow can stand (hate to put the toy down for lack o-money). I do like the idea of having the rig sit as low as possible on big tires, keeping the CG down. I worry most about the strain on the axles and killing my turning radius (not to mention the added mass my puny axles must endure...)

If you don't mind the hacking they will fit.. The d44 holding up will be based on your driving style..

Heres mine before I got it & how it is now...I bought just the body & frame...When it was done & in the TTC it had 44s on a 9 inch & D-44 but they were WAY built....When done it will have the 4 inch lift(Can see it in the 1 pic) & 42s..

Heres pics of my other 79...Has 38 Hawgs on it with just a 3 inch body lift & no suspension lift...I ran these on my 76 F-150 with the stock axels with no probs & I beat the crap out of the truck..That one had a 4 inch lift & 3 body...But the stock 9/44 axels workd great..

Timing is everything, thanks for the reply. I scored the tires with wheels and bolted them up....Woo-fawking Hoo....It's just what the axles parts venders ordered.....Those boggers are hugely noisey! they even drown out my exhaust and make my head pound going down the road. I'm suprised how well they ride and handle (with about 20lbs of weights on the wheels!). My poor steering box must hate my ass....
How do I post a pic? need to put it online somewhere and post a link? (Yeah Ima nube)

we put 44 tsl on a 79 F-150 with a 4" lift with massive amounts of trimming he ran a spooled 9" in the rear and a welded front 44. it was strictly a mud truck we never tore up the rear but it has broken a couple of front u-joints. so i agree it depends on how you drive
