Thats a little vague. Was it swaped in? Do you want to know if it's ford/chevy/amc, or you know the manufacturer and want to know the size? Be a little more specific and like fullsize said, pics would help

Try using GOOGLE (www.google.com)

Depending on what info you have available of the engine, Google should be able to help you find the accurate info you want. I was able to figure out exactly what I had in my Jeep using it. Good Luck!

a quick google search lead me to a mid 80's (possibly 86) chevy 350. Is it carb, TBI, MPI, etc. Pics are worth a 1000 words.

and hey I can say this since you are newer then me right?
:flipoff2: Welcome newbie!!!

we are talking abuot a 1986 cj8 which is an israeli combination for a jeep ( american jeep parts put together in israel)
the engine was swaped from the original 6 in a raw to a v8 carb
I dont know the manufacturer or the real size of the engine

If it's a Chevy the engine number "should" be on the left rear of the block behind the head near the bellhousing.
If it's a new enough block it may have a 5.0L or 5.7L right in the casting number.

hello K.O.,

do we know each other? our country is so small and the offroading community is also not too big, so we probably met or heard about each other.

anyway, this carbed motor is probably a Chevy 350 because i do'nt know of any motor swaps here which were NOT made with Chevy motors.

the a/c looks like Chrysler's and the alternator bracket is opposit to it's usual Chevy position, but who knows, with all the "combinot" here, it can be anything.

if you want to be sure, call a friend of mine, Yoram Duan,
and he'll tell you; he probably put the motor in himself......
his number is 050-280417(cell).

let us know what the answer was.

how the F can you tell displacement by 'looks'?
it is a small block chev
the alternator is in a very typical chev position actually
