Looking to get a new winch. Ramsey seems to be a little cheaper. Any input on what to get ? . Was thinking a 8000 is what I need.

:flipoff2: WELCOME NEWBIE !!! :flipoff2:

What you are gonna find on this is "6 of one and a half dozen of the other".

My .02 is for the WARN winches though!

Try the search feature. :D

One good thread is Which Winch (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34920&highlight=ramsey+warn)

Given the club members who have burned up winches and then spent the extra $$$ on warn's... I'm holding out for a 8274 for the FJ40.

Warn M8000 will do it all for ya!( I use one) If your competing ya might want more line speed, if not it'll be perfect.
Check around for a used winch, you can save some good bucks.

With the only $200 in price difference between the M15000 and the 8274, why would one go with the 8274? I see the 8274 has ALOT more line... Anyone want to jump in here? I've been thinking about the 15000...

the 8274 is also MUCH faster, IIRC. It has no load line speeds close to 60 FPM, which is nice when you are driving and winching...

i was reading that the 8274 is faster than the 15000 with a snach block. thats the winch that i am goin to go for.

HS9500, the cable is a little shorter than the 8274 though but the line speed rocks. That little extra capacity can come in handy on funky angles.

 A friend of mine does offroad recovery here at Hollister Hills SVRA.He runs two Warn 15000.He says Ramseys brake.I run a Warn XD9000I on my CJ7.Very happy with it.If you get a winch that has a shorter cable you can always get a extra cable made up for those long pulls.Dont forget those snatch blocks!

Okay, the Warn 8274 seems to be the :nuke: winch of choice and the WD9000i seems to be the next one in line. HOWEVER, you guys are running small rigs. Line speed and length of cable are important to me but $$$ is also a big factor. But, which one is gonna work the best for my FULL SIZE Cherokee? She's no light weight ya know.

Warn be indestructible. I've had one on my CJ-7 since 1986, been used more times than I can remember.

Warn 8274. The classic never dies.

I purchased my 8274 from a dude who had it mounted to his 88 F250 4x4. He said it never failed him in the direst of needs.
Now I have it on my XJ, I feel that it's more than sufficiant for my needs.
If they're run on Fullsized trucks, I'm sure it'll work on your FSJ.

:D Do the warn:flipoff2:
