This is a serious question and it pertains to my transfer cases and in light of recent thefts etc I need input from the crowd. If you think it's chit chat :flipoff2:. I don't think it is since it's not girly pics or which way do you wipe your ass. However if Lance or Camo says kill it, I will.

I posted that I would really appreciate someone from the board who is coming from/via Fresno to Sac/Reno/Carson could help me out by transporting my dual Marlin cases for me.

Here's the problem or at least a lot of concern for me. I expected a reply or two to the thread saying they are passing by and would be able to help. What I got was a couple of emails from names I don't recognize that didn't sign their name or gave me any indication as to who they were. I'm not saying anyone who offered and emailed is bad or has intentions or desires beyond helping a fellow wheeler out, but my gut says ***WARNING***.

What do you think? No I won't post any information about them as so far they are still as innocent as can be. And I'm trying to figure out if I'm being AR or realistically cautious.

Help.
TIA

i think you would be an idiot to send it with some one you are not real familiar with. hell suck up the bucks and ship it with insurance. mike

I agree. "Sucking Up" isn't a problem but I was thinking I could save a couple of bucks if a fellow PBB'er was going that way. It's exactly what I'm planning on doing.

I would have a hard time trusting anyone. I dont care if they are from this board. Unless someone I knew could vouch for that person I would be a little leary. spend the extra money and you wont have anything to worry about. ;)

I'm pretty trusting, and I haven't been burned too many times, but I agree -- recent events have me wondering.

Michael, you've got mail....

well i see it this way
a while back I was driving to san fran from oregon
I posted that I was heading that way and if anyone needed anything delivered to contact me
some guy needed a tranny dropped off
so i told his brother where to deliver it to me
it drove it down there and delivered it to him
no problem
then a month later I needed a steering box
the guy straight up gave me one and shipped it!
i vote trust the guy
get some info
if he's straight up he'll pass it on
I think it's shitty that people can't trust others
i hate that you can't hitch hike in the us
and that everyone is more afraid of getting screwed/sued than helping out each other

I would say a serious phone conversation and some background info on the guy would be in order before i would trust them with something like that, if they are on the up and up they should have no problems giving you a bit of info.
if in doubt pay for shipping then there is no doubt.

Maybe I'm naive, but for the most part, I don't have any problem trusting a fellow wheeler... I would expect a public reply to a public question though. I think a simple phone call could also clarify any suspicions.

if you have his info from his drivers licence and registration you would know where to go if you had to beat him to death for betraying the 'code'
I am sure if you posted 'X stole my stuff he lives X X X' bad things would occur in Mr X's life

I think now with how big the board has gotten I wouldn't trust just anyone who replied.....Not everyone who is around here has good intentions though we might all expect it. Leave it at tips and tricks and save you goods for the freight company, or at least someone you know has been here a while. Or at least have them pay for it and you pay them when they give it to you :D

I'd pass unless it's someone you know or has a good reputation on the board. Too much shiat being stolen these days. Just my .02 :)

If I was to pick up something in one spot and deliver to another due to me going that way, I ain't paying any of my cash. What if the indivdual who want's you to pick it up flakes?? Or it's not exactly what that individual wanted or bargained for?? No way.

i hate to say this but, if you do it people like myself may have to write a report of how you got ripped off...... its just not a wise way to do it..... with that said there are a few on this bb that i have known for a while...... i would trust them.

First off thanks for the offers, Adam Ant and Rhino. Randii said he could meet Marlin 1/2 way then drop it off here when he comes up Thursday. I will go that route and if it falls through, I'll just have it shipped. Which I may opt for in the first place as I need it up here the sooner the better so the suspension can be cycled and the driveshafts ordered so I could possibly be wheeling next weekend.

I find it unfortunate that you can't just trust people from the get go until they give you reason to be suspiscious(sp) but these days it seems as though there is a joker around every corner looking to rip people off.

BAJG - Yep I'd rather not have make any reports. Although the idea of getting copies of thier DL and reg then posting them on this board would be a hell of a deterrent. But I just don't need that additional aggravation right now. Example Bob is getting donations from everyone to help recover from his theft but still even with everything replaced doesn't help the violated feeling. Especially when you trust people and once you turn your back they are bending you over.
