SANTA YNEZ -- Concerns with protecting two federally listed threatened and endangered species have led the U.S. Forest Service to temporarily close Mono Campground in the Los Padres National Forest north of Santa Barbara. The area will be closed until mid-July to protect critical habitat of the California red-legged frog and the arroyo toad during breeding season.

The Fremont and Los Prietos campgrounds will reopen March 29.
