I am looking for the disk brake brakets for the rear of a 40. I know that TSM sells them for $120 a pair. I also checked with that guy on woody's site but can't seem to get ahold of him. I don't know if he still makes them. Do you guys know of anybody else that sells them.
Thanks

JTOutfitters usually has a few sets on Ebay... Pretty cheap, like $70/set. You ca also get them directly from them.

Here's Paul Considine's drawing (http://www.birfield.com/~morgan/tech/LCDBC1.pdf) of the bracket, in case you want to make your own.

I'm going to back up CruiserBrett on this one. I just did my rear disc brake conversion and it came out awesome. I got my brackets off ebay.......whom jt outfitters put on there. $67 bucks, not bad... They went on real easy, and they gave me some good intructions with part numbers for everything. It took me an afternoon to do the whole conversion.

GloNDark which part number did you use..
I want to order the brackets for my FJ62.
I figure they will work because they need to be welded
on. I may just buy all and see which one fits..
thanks,
Rodney

Hey Cruiser heads,
Hope you don't mind me posting in your section:D
I've done most of my yammering so far over in the :smokin: ZUK section.
I'm putting a set of FJ60 axles under a Samurai. Well, the rear axle drum backing plates, drums, and e-brake cable brackets were pretty rusty, trashed & broken, so i decided to save some money and just put disc's on it.
After using the search and doing some research, i decided that $120 for TSM brackets doesn't exactly fit the discription of saving money, and the FJ60/62 housing end is different than the 40 that you can get brackets for ~ $60 for...

Funny this was mentioned...
I paid $7.77 each for part # AA-113A (small GM caliper) a few days before that was posted. What i got can be found here. (http://www.aa-mfg.com/catalog/index3.html)
Scroll down till you find the part #. It will be figure A.
which part number did you use..
Well, it depends on what caliper you plan on using. I have a set of eldorado/toronado rear calipers that i am using. AA-113A has 5.5" between the caliper pin holes. I believe this measurement is the same for the other calipers commonly used for this swap.

:rasta: Hah, That's kind of what i did. When i ordered (2) AA-113A, I also ordered (2) AA-113CLMP. The 113A part doesn't say what size tubing it fits(i thought it would be 3") and the 113CLMP description says it fits 3-3/8" tubing. They ended up being the exact same part. Maybe they screwed up and sent out 2 sets of 113A???
Anyway, they will work perfect on the 60/62 housing.
The bracket lines up right next to where the axle housing end is welded on at.
I plan on doing a full write up with pics when i get done. If it's ok i'll post it here too, unless someone else beats me to it.
Real quick, here is a partial list of what i am using. About $170 total so far:D:D:D
GM 1/2 ton 4x4 reg cab front rotors ~$25-$30 each.
Machined center hole to fit end of axle - free, pal did it for me.
Caliper brackets ~ $20 including shipping.
Toronado/Eldorado rear calipers - $20 each at the u-pull it.
Not too bad a shape, just need a quick sand blast and new pads.
I will probably use a couple of stock samurai front caliper flex lines to go on the rear calipers. They have a 10mm banjo fitting that fits right on the caliper, the other end plugs right into the yota hard lines.
I plan on using a Yota minitruck booster with the 1 ton 2wd master cylinder. AdvanceAuto has it for ~ $55 part#11-2248
stock miniT is 13/16" bore
1ton 2wd is 15/16" bore
FZJ80 is 1" bore - best price i found on that was also at AdvanceAuto ~ $108 part# 12832 - looks to be new including reservoir.

The bolt on kits need to be spaced out 3/32 to 1/8 of an inch, typically done with washers. Did you use some type of spacer for the weld on brackets?
