: Engine wiring harness questions

I know that the hardest part of an engine conversion is the wiring harness especially with EFI. So I have a question. What is you maintain all the original parts. You swap over all the wiring from engine to computer and from the computer to the gauges along with the original gauge cluster from the donor. wouldn't that solve the wiring issues. From my understanding the difficulty exists in knowing what wires to splice with what. Am I on base here?

You're right on base. I think it is dependent on your skills whether it is easier to change all the wiring or just splice out the wires you need. It is not very hard to identify the positives and negatives on the schematic that you have to hook up. If you're working with a 1.6 8 valve all the info is here for the searching.:D

I had the same idea also but once I got that pos harness out of the Tracker and took a good look at it I sent it to TT. For the money I'll let Brent do all the work.

See I would rather try and do the wiring myself to save $$. Plus I don't know anyone that could do the wiring for the 4age conversion. Which is one reason I might just do the Swift GT swap. I'll run that for a year or 2 and then see what other swaps evolve then.

I could have done it, been dealing with DC wiring for the last 12 years...........I'm just too damn lazy

I put a tracker FI intake on my 1.3L a few years back. I cant remember all the stuff I had to do but I do remember that it wasn't very hard at all(and I'm not that great at wiring). All it took was the schematics from both engines, a pair of snips, some labeling tape(masking tape and a pen) a six pack of beer, a living room floor and a big box to put your scaps in. I was very nervous and put it off for a while but when I finally did it, it wasn't that hard. I think I only had to splice in a few wires to the dash.TT's harness looks a little better though.
