What would you all buy if it were a toss up ?
I am leaning to Irok's cause I just don't get a chance to wheel that much.
Or maybe I'll just get the 39.5 Hawgs and keep the affair going.

Are beadlocks overrated ? Any advice on which ones is greatly appreciated , allieds seem to be the shiat but thats alota bolts to tighten .

I've seen em run in person, and the guy was flogging them in the snow. 3psi all the way around. i'd still be afraid of tearing up a tire.

I'm leaning towards the beadlocks, main cause I have only 1 of my 38"s that is about 30% tread, the rest are about 75%. So who makes a decent steel beadlock out there??

i have allieds on my rig and like em. nice fit.

as for the tires, iroks are the way to go fo sho. we put em on rustynut's buggy. went from 44" swampers to 42" iroks and what a difference. those tires are amazing.

Rascal had a set of Bobby Long weld-on beadlocks n his rig and they were super sweet.

Rockstomper also makes a good set of weld on rings.

Actually I had never really considered it, until you mentioned it. DOH!! However that being said, I could sell my tires, get some weld on beadlocks AND, order up some 42" IROKS.....oh so sweet. I wonder how long it will take to get the tires in??

The 42" IROKs really kick ass. I was very pleased with mine.

Weld on locks baby!

The selling part on beadlocks for me was Bobbys anti-coning ring since I drive mine on the road a bunch. Their beefy as hell and putting them on fixed the beatup edges of the rims. Rockstompers seem to be the same just w/o the ring and the blingity rings.

Longs are cool but I am pretty sure they only come in 15s
Glo are you running 15s? For some reason I was 16.5s

Go with the locks...Like someone else mentioned though the DIY kits are cheaper. I just went with the Allieds and they are well worth the cash.

A nice option, if you go with the Rockstompers, is the flat head allen head bolts. you never bugger a hex head that way.

Did you experience alot of "coning" of the outter ring when they were bolted up? That's been the only thing I have heard regarding most weld on kits.

Yea they coned some, mainly cause I overtorqued 'em! Rockstomper says to only go 7 lbs (I think) and I neglected to read the online instructions, Doesnt seem to matter, I've been using them 2 years and havent leeked a pound of air. Better yet, I've run them as low as five pounds with no problems.

it's one of those things I read about all over the place about the diy beadlocks, but no one can ever say why it's a bad thing. I was just curious mainly. :flipoff2:

this is the route I'm going to go, and then sell my 38"s and move up after the beadlocks are on. :D

Do the tires when you do the locks so you dont have to torque all those bolts again in a 365 day period. After that, you forget how much of an ass whipping it was :D

I'd have to agree, 128 bolts, about four trips around to get them all even! Just about five hundred clicks of the torque wrench.

Beadlocks. You'll want them for the 42s anyway.
If you don't know you need them now, you're running too much air in your tyres!

I run a constant 4 to 5 psi. :D I've blown 2 beads this past summer and with the on board air it's not a huge problem. Just a inconvienant.

I disagree.. all those flush head, button head, etc.. bolts.. they WILL get intimate with the rocks. when you drag across it, and a burr partially covers the hex hole, it's no fun getting an allen key in after that.. With regular 'ol bolts, you can either pound a socket onto the bolt or use a flat file.. Way easier IMO.

As for Bobby's locks, I got his very last one... literally. The red one he used in the pictures.. :)

Beadlocks on the outer bead with that roofing caulk on the inner bead.. I can't tell ya how hard it was to break the inner bead seal when I WANTED to with that goop on there. Let's just say it took driving the front of my 8000lb CTD up onto the inner bead 10 times, and using a hi-lift into the front of the bumper at LEAST 15 times, to the point where the front of the Dodge was coming off the ground..

Or just tap an allen into the socket head. I drag 'em across rocks regularly and have no problem. To each his own, I guess.
