in my area there is a 4.2 liter jeep motor inline six from an 88 or 89 xj. it is for sale for 300$ it runs im not sure of the milage. is it fuel injected? i have a 73 cj5 and dont know very much about fuel injected motors. is this a good deal? it comes with all the acc. will it mate to my trans? i have the 3 speed peace of shit. the xj motor is mated to an auto not sure if that matters. would this be an upgrade from my 304 v8? also how hard is it to swap in a fuel injected motor with the stock wireing harness and how much would it cost to transplant the motor besides the cost of the motor? thanks i know this is a lot of questions.

first off if its out of a cherokee than it is a 4.0. yes it is fuel injected. yes it will bolt up. you will need the wiring harness and all sensors/ecu. as far as the price how many miles, does that include the harness. were are you located.

If it is a yj motor it is not feul injected. That happened in 91 for the yj's. If it runs great and doesnt use any oil or leak any then it sounds about right. If the rear main leaks, thats not a hard fix. There is always an exception though. Ive bought whole jeeps with running 258's (4.2 litre) for not much more than $300 but I guess it really depends on how bad you need a motor:flipoff2:
Oh and ill sell you a complete fuel injected 4.0 with the harness and computer for $400. You just have to pick it up in e. tn.
