Pick me one of these DIY finishes.Poll allows multiple choices.
My FAL is going to be tore down and I am going to put the new barrel on (after its cut to 16.25 inches  ) and re-finish it.
But i am not going with anything boring and black :flipoff2:
Desert:
http://www.lauerweaponry.com/images/CPR16.jpg
suits me, looks cool, will still camo itself in other environments other than the desert
Winter Twig:
http://www.lauerweaponry.com/images/CPR8.jpg
cool as hell design, makes a "different" weapon, doesn't really serve any camo abilities 10 months out of the year
Urban:
http://www.lauerweaponry.com/images/CPR15.jpg
Just looks evil
Wilderness:
http://www.lauerweaponry.com/images/CPR14.jpg
decent looks
Pink:
http://www.lauerweaponry.com/images/dcr_66.jpg
cause nothing instills fear in a man more than another man with a pink rifle

After I picked Winter Twig, I had to laugh at myself for helping you "pick out colors". It seems kinda gay to do so, but I guess the testosterone of the whole FAL thing overrules any homoghey.

you sure Winter Twig wont make me look fat? It does have vertical stripes and that is slimming so it might help.
I only picked colors that complement my olive skin tone :flipoff2:

Haha...as we speak the marpat camo job on my 10/22 is drying in the basement. I just used the krylon camo pack...od green flat brown and dark khaki. Plus matte clear. It was a lot cheaper than lauer's...plus I really dislike their woodland colors/pattern. The desert mirage and pink lady on the other hand are both awesome.

Another option is to tiger stripe it. Did this on a paintball gun long long ago and it came out fawking awesome, just time consuming.

In order of coolness, I like the winter twig, the wilderness, and then the desert.
I don't like the urban.
One day, I will have an AR with all pink furniture for my "loaner" rifle.

what did you use for the masking? as in "marpat" you mean the new digital?
I can get the same colors in textured rustolium that i can do on my next AK build :D
oh, they have the cheat kit for tiger stripes :p

I think am going to do my SKS in that :D with a 20 round chinese box mag it would fully rock.
But that will be done in krylon

I voted for the urban, and would have said pink, but you strike me more as a periwinkle kinda guy. :flipoff2:
Go here, and click on the "Duracoat Camo Finish" Box.

The underbrush looks pretty good too...
You really should try the zolatone finish, that way when I get around to doing mine, I'll know if its worth it or not. :D

I hate urban. besides, that's not really an urban gun.
I think more winter warfare with that gun. A digital winter deal would rock.
dessert is getting too common.
outside the twig, I'd have to go to wilderness.

Yeah, kinda like this. I just found some digi camo outlines (that they were trying to sell on ebay) blew them up, traced them onto sticky paper and cut them out. :D

Dude, where's the bacon?
Think about it some redish browns and glossy greys. :flipoff2:
But seriously the MARPAT idea would be the primo. Specially if you can get the pattern the same size as on the actual uniforms.
I have seen both the woodland and desert in the "field" and it really is amazing how well the pattern works.

okay, took some pix..
this came from Century about three months ago, but I changed the locking shoulder, bolt and carrier. I like the Israeli sandcut bolt carrier and the bolt that came in this one had a weak extractor...I had to change the locking shoulder after trading the bolt/carrier. the headspace on this gun is spot on for factory specs and this gun will put all 20 iside 1.5"@100yds using the flip-up sights you see on the gun...I traded for this gun last Sat at a local gun show, then brought it home to check out. Sun AM I went to the range after swapping some parts to make it work right. It will digest ANY 308 ammo you want to feed it...
some guns come from century and work fine, I like to make sure they are fine...I built myself a para a few months ago...
I bought the CETME for the HK Sliding Butt that was on it...now my personal rifle has it...I did go shoot this one, not bad, cycles well and I did hit that clay pidgeon @100yds...
The AR is from Rock River and is a flat top with a 20" HB...I slapped a scope on it to try it out, shoots nice, but I have a little shorty I keep for myself...
I will be in Mesquite this Sat and FW the 18th...

This is pure evil. I think you are the kind of people that would go into Gods forest and kill his creatures, aren't you?
Me too, I like it.
Have you thought about South African camo like the R1s had? I think it's kinda cool and authentic.
A bud of mine who was station in the Canal Zone way back told me he seen a recruiting poster for the Rhodisian Army. It showed a native lying along side the road with half his head gone. The caption read " A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste" or something like that. It was a play on a tv ad here popular at the time.
Remember.....Guns cause crime like spoons made rosie odonnell fat.

Im kinda partial to the more conventional methods and good browing is easy to do without all the masking...
