We ran that about 10 years back. I think they closed the original trail because of some frog or bush... or something like that. I heard the new trail is not as tough but what the hell do I know :rasta:

I ran it several years back. It was actually the first run in the "new canyon" (private property) they called Shredder Canyon. Was a fun run, lots of carnage and body damage. The trail was only 1 mile long and it took almost 5 hours to get through, I was like 11th in line....

I would recommend it as a fun run, but compared to some of the stuff FatKid runs, I wouldn't call it too much of a challenge.....

I also heard they extended the trail, but that was just a rumor and I have not looked into it or got it confirmed....

the new trail is harder than the original, and it was closed becaused of a frog.

Here's my fav shot of my truck on that trip.

Santiago was closed due to the POSSIBILITY the the Arroyo Toad lived there. Shredder is more hard core, pretty cool run...

Whats up on the "private property" thing? Is the trail open to the public (maybe the property owner is OK with it), or do you need permission from someone?

I ran the old trail once and was upset they closed it. It used to be they gave you the combo for a locked gate.

Pete, it might have taken you five hours in a group, but remeber that I ran it in about 45 minutes solo.

That's cause I was spotting you :flipoff2:

IT IS ON PRIVATE PROPERTY - DO NOT GO THERE WITH OUT PERMISSION OR IT WILL GET CLOSED!!!

You might try contacting the High Desert Four Wheelers for contact info of the owner....

I remember that is went up a stream/river and was nice because it was a bit shady as well. Does it still do that? or is it all canyons cause of that frog? I bet if you go out there you are bound to see 50-60 people looking at those frogs they saved
