Currently swapping out the stock 4-speed (with Centerforce clutch) in my 76 FJ40 to an SM420. I've got all the 3-speed clutch parts needed, but...
Ques. 1 Can the 4-speed clutch assembly be used with the SM420 with the 11" chevy disc?
Ques. 2 If I use the 3-speed clutch, can I just drill out the end of the clutch fork to fit my 4-speed slave cylinder (will be keeping slave on passenger side)?
Ques. 3 Which is better, the 3-speed flywheel and clutch or the 4-speed flywheel and clutch, and why (besides the weight of the 3-speed flywheel)?
Ques. 4 How do you adjust/setup the 3-prongs on the 3-speed pressure plate? Do you torque to the flywheel first and then determine if all 3 prongs are even??? I've heard that if they're even just a little off it'll roast the t/o bearing.
Also noticed that my old Centerforce clutch disc seems to fit the SM430 input shaft perfectly, as noted in Pinhead's write up. Can it be used?
Thanks in advance.
