Good Day, I have a 1986 chev ,4x4. Putting in 454 with 700r4. Problem is when checking for spark when on number one firing I can get a spark only if I move the distibutor quickley by number one position, however when I start the engine no spark at all. The distributor is Accel and new.Power to the distributor is 11.6 volts. Is the module or pick up coil bad? Usually when setting up timing for number one a slow movement through and back gives a spark. Any thoughts?

my brand new accel dist needed a new pickup coil, burnt a lead. it would either run or not, or just shut off randomly only to restart on any given crank over.

a good way to tell if its the pick up is to check for tach signal. if you have a tach, it will typicaly twitch and read as you crank the motor, no movement / no signal= pickup no good. you can put a testing light on the tach hook up, it should blink as the signal hits it.

it sounds like the module, it happened to me twice on my burb took me forever to find out but that was the problem another thing if you just for that coil on make sure your wires leading into the coil are plugged in, I forgot to do that after i bought my accel coil, felt pretty stupid but good luck

There is a goat some where still waiting for you to pay child support :flipoff2:

I would change the module 1st and go from there..
