Has anyone done this? Any pictures? A picture from a post on CK5 got me thinkin about it. How do ya get things like steering, tranny/t-case shifters to line up? Whats the deal on body mounts? I'm starting to realize that the K5 body is to damn wide for what I want to do...I was denied on the harder line on Winch Hill One at Fordyce cause of my wiiiide as hell body. With like 50 people watching..:flipoff2: Just want to know what kinda project this would be if I decided to undertake it. I like the idea of the S10 Blazer body....How 'bout an extended cab truck cab only?

Someone posted this body swap a few weeks ago (maybe a month), if I remember someone posted that the body mounts would have to be redone (repositioned). I am not sure if the guy actually went through with it or not. I'll look for the post.

I put a 1988 s10 blazer body on mmy sorta k5 chassis. it was actually a 78 1/2 ton, but i cut 3 ft out of the frame.shoulda only cut 2 ft out. go to www.heavyliftoffroad.com and look at the white blazer on boggers the new owner calls beast.Sorry, i can't get my computer to upload the url. sorry, now he calls it "project bout to break". The firewall was relocated(Fugly work as i am no body guy)i thnk it would be MUCH easier to do an ext cab only and mount the rad out back. My .02 let me know if you have any more ????

I've seen guys on here say the S-10 frame is a better starting point than the K5 frame. No experience with S-10s personally, but I will say the K5 frames suck. :D

the S10 frame is stronger than the fullsize, its fully boxed in the front half because IFS needs a really rigid frame. You could easily box in the rear half if you wanted. I have 2 S10's and one 3/4 ton fullsize truck. When I removed the bed from the fullsize to repair it, and i got the truck flexed out, the rear springs never moved, the frame just twisted. I did the same thing with my S10 to see what would happen, the frame barely budged, springs flexed like they should.

Hmmm...The white S10 truggy thing is pretty cool. Alot like what I envison for mine. Not that tall though.. :flipoff2: lol

I was thinkin about the S10 frame too. I'd be taking the entire running gear from the current truggy and swaping into whatever frame I decide on. This is the current rig-

1 ton of course. 5.13 detroit/welded. 350/465/203/205. 52" frt, 63" rear springs. As you can see I've already got alot of time, effort and money into the rig as it is with exo/tube work. I guess I could just rob the running gear from it, and try to sell the exo/shell for enough to pick up an old beater s10 or sumthin. Kinda wish I had thought about this before I started the truck as it is now. Just too damn wide/heavy for most of what I want to do. Oh well...Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. :p

I can tell you from experience, do not go with a K5 frame. I used a SWB fullsized frame and it worked, but I would rather have started with the S10 frame.

You will have to build body mounts going this route, no matter what. I can get pics of mine and post up. Simple and easy to do and strong.

The K5 frame is not flat enough for an S-10 Extended cab unless you cut the floor out. It is also borderline long enough if you want any kind of cab set-back like mine has. Check out a friend's yahoo photos he took - my junk is not finished in these pics, but you get the idea.

You may be better off with a standard cab.

ok guys since we r on this subject of a s10 body on full size frame. i have seen sum mud bog competion trucks with s10 body's with beds on a full size frame with full width axles and cut the frame down to as short as possible. most of the body's r reg cab. and they just took peices of steel welded it to the frame then set the body on them and welded the body so its like a 12" body lift and they arnt running any susp lift at all. i was wandering whats is my best frame to get to do sumthing like this? a k5 a reg cab long bed or a reg carb short bed so that my front fenders will match my axles and my rear will match in the bed so i dont have to move axles around. i dont care if its a ext cab or a reg cab s10 either so what frame and how do u sugguest i get it on the frame if they above way doesnt sound very safe but i kno of two guys running a body frame like that

What year K5 were you comparing it too? I'm pretty sure they changed the frame ~'77 or so; on the early 2nd gens the floor gets higher just behind the front seats. Around '77 they changed it so there is more legroom in the rear seat, the floor is the same height from the bottom of the firewall to the front of the rear seat.

I apo;logize to the owner of this truck which used to be mine.I sounded like a big brown ASSHOLE talking about his truck.

His name is Josh and he is serving in Iraq. I also apologize to all who read this thread and have seen my rude comments. I edited them out so that they could not be read again.
