Has anyone ever used an old (1981) FJ60 as a tow vehicle for a 4000 trailer.
Since my 99 Trooper is not a good choice maybe another one in the family collection can be used.
The 81 has 60K on the engine and clutch, 181 on the rest with 1 ton springs from canada (from one with full floaters years ago).
It may be slow on hills but would it work.

I used to tow a 2500lb boat behind my 60. it towed fine but had one hell of a time stopping it. I towed a 6000lb trailer for about 10 miles & it took FOREVER to stop. This is on my 350'd SOA fj60 on 35's. Pick up a Cummins pickup & you will never tow with anything else again!

I pull a pop-up camp trailer, but I did put on a trailer brake. And my gas milage went up to 16 MPG.

I bucked & hauled hay for a living in highschool and I used my 84 FJ60 to do just that:shaking: . It hated every min of it, slow, gutless, burned up a clutch but it did it. I was only 16 did not know any better.:D
