Nope, I believe the FJ62's, FJ80, etc. are auto. I'm sure I'll be corrected below if I'm wrong. :D

Cruisers are cursed with auto trannys here in the US. They still come with manual trannys everywhere else as far as I know. I have seen several 80 series wagons from South America with stock carbs and 5 speed set ups.........Lucky Bastards:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
shoulda been more specific... i was talkin about all FJ-40s are
manual, am i right?

Yes, all FJ40s were manual-shift.

Toyota debuted the A440F automatic transmission on 10/84, with the introduction of the 3F engine. At the time, Toyota had the 60 series and the then-brand-new 70/75 series, both of which got the automatic tranny (in the 70 series, not the 75). By then, the venerable 40 series was still in limited production only on a few overseas CKD facilities (Venezuela, Pakistan), and the auto tranny was ever used on them.

I have never seen an auto TLC here in Pakistan.. I am sure there would be a few though.. But most have 4 or 5 speed transmission..
