Damn...been waiting so long to be at this point I can't believe they are actually in myself. Thanks to Tusker for holding the backboard, or else they wouldnt be in! Ok, so here are some pics.

This is the whole shooting match from the side...

A little closer from the rear...

I used the stock toy rubber mount in the rear, inside a 4X2 0.25 channel, I used angle to hang it from the frame, everything is flush or higher than the bottom of the frame...

Whats next?? Now that this is in its time to cut out a bunch of the tunnel to get it to fit. Sort of ironic since I just finished repairing all of the rust holes in the tub...fix the tub ...then whack the tub oh well, I'm getting good at welding zuk sheetmetal. I've done lots of measuring and the tunnel chop will be significant, but not too severe.

Just curious where that rear shifter ends up being in relation to the driver's seat. Is it right at the parking brake opening? Behind it?

The rear shifter will come out about 2-3 inches in front of the end of the e-brake handle. However I think the the tunnel will have to be modified all the way to the rear of the e-brake handle for the increased height. I'll know for sure by sawzall-Sunday.

How much further over does the Toy case output shaft sit vs's the zuk? I put D44's in mine and with the GRS1 the out put shaft sits about 2" towards the passenger side vs's the yoke on the rearend.....If I was close to that on the other side, i could move up to toy stuff!!!

How much further back does it sit vs's the stock case? ....Do i get an even shorter rear dline??

Rude-It is centered, not really sure how much a waggi 44 is offset, but a Scout 44 is centered and I believe very close to the same width. Scout junk is cheap (trust me on this one)but it would be a pita switching everything over.

The rear shaft is shorter, but only about an inch. However the output is quite a bit higher which would mandate a zoomy rear drive shaft on a short sammy. I had to remove the center of the midframe body mounts to get it to work. That required some major gusseting and a new x-member to be installed.

Installing this setup is a major undertaking, which is one of the reasons I decided to pull the body, although it could be done with the tub on.

Well, when i put in the D44..it is from a Waggy...the Yoke on the axle is shifted to the left (drivers side) compared to the stock zuk axle....So my d-line has a slope down to the axle as well as an angle towards the drivers side....
It is about a 2" difference...
Bobaki im using Toy CV (40*) front and rear on this now from Arizona Driveline...so there is no vibration and it can go the other way...
Im curious if it will just shift 2" the other way...

scwafish
10-30-2001, 10:49 PM
Geez this is gettin' confusing but its simple....the toy is in the center. Measure how far your off center and there is the answer. I dont know if youll be better off or worse , but you can figure that out.

Mr fish has his tcase mounted very high(above the bottom of the frame)and will have problems others wont, but he'll end up with nothing but the axel and d/shaft bellow the frame---------we'll watch

While I'm going for a flat belly pan, if you don't raise everything as high as the frame bottom the engine is sloping to the rear quite a bit more than stock. Stock engine slope is around 3.5 degrees, with the output at the stock location the motor is tilted around 10 degrees. Mine is sitting at 4 degrees.

Does is matter? I've got no clue, but if your going this far, why not get every inch of clearance that you can without lifting the rig. Cutting the floor seems minor at this point.

I have a setup with the flat belly pan and so far its working out well. I am still tweeking some things and willbe doing the soa in the next month or 2.

My setup, 3" lift springs, 1" body lift. 31" tires.
http://www.yager.net/zukin/yazuki2/yazuki2-09052001.html for other pics...

It has worked out great, yes i do drag on things, but i slid right over, others get hung up on a small edge or lip and are stoped, even just being flush to the frame has made a big difference.

I raised my driveline about 2 years ago - Centerline of my rear t-case output is 2" above the frame. Here's a hint: high-pinion diff works perfect.

Hey, something as puny as a zuk with diffs the size of a grapefruit can go a lot of places on 31 and 32. I wonder how different the pumkin clearance on a zuk with 31s is from a D60 on 35s, I bet its not that different.

Later me and Incontrol mounted a seat, and then I put in the shifters to see where it all ended up, and its damn near perfect. I'll need to bend the tranny shifter back a bit but otherwise thats it. My tunnel will take a little figuring out, but its no big deal, I think it might be easier if I suspend my seats off the cage.

The floor is obviously weaker, but its not exactly flapping in the breeze. I can still sit in there and it doesnt droop or anything. Doesn't matter anyway since I think Ill be hanging the seats from the cage to make the tunnel simpler and removable.

It could be made as strong as it was with nothing more than sheetmetal, it is just a more complicated shape to fabricate since it would need to incorperate the existing drivers seat mount. The old bobaki duct tape special wouldnt get it.
