So what did the rest of you slackers get done this weekend? :flipoff2:

I checked the oil, R&Red the lower rad hose, and went out n' checked tire clearance before installing the bump stops on Saturday..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/3_23_2002/DCP_0029.JPG

I ended up taking some 2x2 box tubing, drilling it on either side, mounting the bump stop to one side, and the other to the U-bolt plate. The box tubing attached to the frame side with the old stock bushing was discarded.

I need to trim a bit off the top of the 'stop - it's stopping me a little too soon, but didn't cause any problems today.

Got that, and then jacked up the front and adjusted the steering stops.. then it was off to go wheelin' Sunday...

Everyone airin' down..

I got to be Trail Boss today.. and with the number of stock-ish rigs with us, I managed to do the most wheelin' just puttering ahead breaking trail while everyone else was stuck. :D

Couple spots required a little right-foot. The 345 happily spins along at 5000rpm when I ask it to (2nd gear, 4-low, needed the wheel spin)

The "Bronc-up" made a better show of it..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0056.JPG
I tried 8psi at first, but ended up back down at 6psi..

There's a wrinkle in that sidewall.. http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0058.JPG

Later when we turned around, I stopped and put 2 psi back in (8psi) before combing downhill with the heavy 345 over the front end - it was a little close for a while.

I did manage to bury it at least once while playing up ahead.. this is after I hi-lifted myself out of my holes.. the 4" SUA leaf springs were sitting on hardpack before I used the jack.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0063.JPG

I did end up driving out of it.. and made it to the top. Too bad no one else could. ;)

Since we were way up by ourselves breaking trail, Michelle got to exercise her shovel.. tho' here she's just making sure it doesn't fall over. :D

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0071.JPG

This is what the tire looked like at 6psi, pointing down hill, before I put some back in..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0074.JPG

Everyone enjoying some BSing and the beautiful weather we had..

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/trail_rides/3_24_2002/DCP_0083.JPG

I had a good day. Broke trail, Scout lead the way, and didn't break anything.

Even with the tires turned to the stops and full throttle clawing my way along.

Still REALLY like the new tires, though I'm still trying to get the air pressure down right.

At 6psi I was actually crowning my tracks - the center was higher, with the edges packing down more.. but the wrinkles were cool. :D

I have a little more trimming in the rear to do - the rusty remains of the wheel well lip were catching some tire at times.

Put in a new master cylinder and a newer brake booster. Added stainless brake lines. Damn skyjaker, had to reuse two brass washers:mad3: Also ended up replacing the rag joing for the first time. Man, what a pain that was. Fixed up some wiring and get the passenger side new seat belt in....still have a ways to go before I can wheel this beast...

So what does that all mean?? Well now I have the Axles off to do my SOA swap. and the engine tranny and X-fer case out, so Hopefully I can sell them. It took us 6hrs with impact tools and a forklift ;p

busted my hump in the yard Saturday morning....

continued clean the crap up (place was starting to look like a sh*t hole).

Cut up the last of a SII I scraped, saved all the good parts, and one "usable" outer 1/4-panel skin.... damn those things are really on there... Saws-all and torch :D.

Got an 800 ready for a guy to pickup, now if WA state would just hurry up with the tittle

Finnally put the front springs back on the 1/2T pu I robed them off of for my 1st SO experiment.... now I can move it again :). Got to get it ready to scrap the body (if ANYONE wants a D-serise PU cab... "decent" but not good shape, come on over and get it, or it gets squished). Saving the frame for a future projects (hee hee), and the clutch linkage for the t-lette....

My pop came over and we shreded a couple of bushes with his new shreder.

All before 11:00 am. Then I cleaned up and went to the "theater"...... mmm culture.....

O-ya, Jenni found her dress too... thank-god, one less thing to worry about.....

Sunday was *supposed* to be nicer [weather], but it sucked.... to made it a lasy day and worked inside.... got plumbing to do for the new laundry room, and dry-wall, electrical........

hmmm, no wonder I don't have any time to go wheeling....

course, 10 days and I leave for Hawwii for 10 days .... :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

That's what I was wondering - looks pretty good in the pics!

Also, is it a Blazer with a GMC grille, or is it really a Jimmy? :D

Cliffy [JD]

It used to be a jimmy before it got set on fire by some punk assed bitches in Ft Collins CO, now it's (or was) a Blazer with a Jimmy front clip and tailgate.

I tried to sell it for almost 7 months. It would have NEVER sold for $8000.00 I had a couple of offers  of less than $5000.00

BTW it is just a little less nice than it looks. There's some rust on the rear quarters that you can't see.

Sat, headed out with Josh C for a day of fun at Carangie. Not much action, I almost dumped it on the side. The park is tame for 4x's, but only an hour from the house.

Sun, nothing much.

So Cliffy you going to coil the Scout? Let's hear the plans so we can offer our 2 cents.

Joe

Nope, no coils on the scout, jsut SOA and crossover. I'm keeping it simple this time. I'm either gonna sell my coils or keep 'em for a project down the road. Don't know what yet, maybe nothing.

What's with you California boys.. "tame for 4x's" and "almost dumped it on the side"??

First Camo rolls on a flat, then JoshC, now Jdjanda tries to roll in a "tame" area... :flipoff2:

I guess tame to us, is impassable to you :D

I don't know what it takes to pucker, because I was over pretty far and didn't pucker in the least bit.

They rub just a bit on the passenger side every now and then when I turn - it hits the rocker/firewall area.

I'm pretty sure it's because the passenger side body mount has completely collapsed, while the driver's side mount still makes an attempt to keep the body off the frame. :D

All day wheelin', the fronts never rubbed. Rears did when I was working through deep snow and had the passenger side on top of the snow, driver's side in a hole - the bump stop had come loose (it was a quick install.. I really need to weld my spacer to the U-bolt plate).

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/scout/jpg/3_23_2002/DCP_0025.JPG

I backed up a snowbank in my alley while driving out of the garage on Saturday night - that finally made the front suspension stuff a bit, and it still wasn't rubbing. Too dark and too late in the evening to get pictures, but maybe I'll move the Scout around tomorrow night and try the snowbank again.
