ok guys thought id start this conversation this morning.

dana 61's here is what i know about them.

pinoin is offset in the housing making you run a ring gear spacer
housings are beefier then a regular 60
tuebes are 3.5"
uses all the same stuff as a 60


so what are the pros and cons with running a 61?

I think there is some good info over in the Ford forum on this, but the basic idea is this, the D61 is set up to run highway gears, and you need a spacer to use regular D60 gears. Also any gears that it will come with will probably be junk (3.50 or higher (numerically lower) i think). Search the Ford BB, and wou should find some more shit on the D61.

dont forget the spindles are already drilled for 1 1/2" shafts

you use 60 gears... so u should be able to go 7.17's
