I finally got the Jeep up on the new trailer and I am concerned on how the straps rub on the axle brackets. The passenger side is not a problem, it is the driver side. On the driver side front I ran the strap around the axle between the diff and the control arm and coil spring brackets. On the drivers side rear I ran the strap between the trac-bar and coil spring brackets. Also on the drivers side rear the strap hit the shock due to the angle of the strap to the attatchment point on the trailer. When I got back from a short trip I did not like the way the straps were rubbing against the brackets on the drivers side. I have the axle straps with the protective covers, so I am worried over nothing or am I doing something wrong. I wished I would have taken pictures to help show the problem but I spaced it out. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

What exactly are you worried about?...The straps breaking because of the rubbing?.. I say you're worrying about nothing. You must be a paranoid mofo like me (Mr. Triple check)..

I guess in my ramblings I did not mention my actual concern but you seemed figured it out. And yes I am paranoid because this is the first time I have pulled anything before and I guess I am looking for somebody who has had this problem.

I also run straps from between the rear bumper and the frame to the trailer and in front I hook the winch cable to the trailer. I won't run just axle straps because my Jeep is pretty flexy, I don't run sway bars either.

Mr Tripple check,

I tow my TJ and I know what you mean.

Suggestion, Criss cross the straps. This will move the pressure and it will look better to you.

So far I have not damaged any straps and I run mine straight.
4 straps.

Also If you look closely the TJ has factory tow spots on the rear frame near the back of the rear tire. They are egg shaped.
This is for a towtruck to run his chains in. If you are that worried. Just use chains in the rear and straps in the front. If you use chains you will have to pull down the suspension to "load' the suspension up a bit.

Overall It seems your worried about nothing. :D :jeep:

lol i just strap the axles down and watch the jeep sway around as i go down the road.... :D on long trips i pull the winch out also, just for some added security.....

i say never neaver mount to only the frame, axle is the only way to get a definate fastening point..... go to the frame to stabilize the jeep from swaying... yes, but make sure you got straps on both axles.....

When you tie to the frame, do you suck your suspension down to the bump stops? I used to have a very stiff sprung CJ, which I tied down to the frame. Scared the sheet out of me watching that suspension compress when I hit bumps at 80 mph on the interstate. Now I use chains from corner to corner on the trailer and loop them around the diff. I let the Jeep's suspension do its own thing.
