I was curious if anyone knows any shops in the Detroit area that can custom tune the fuel maps on a 97 tj jeep. I was looking to get a stroker kit and head and wanted to have everything tuned to my specific setup after the fact. I dont even know if this computer is reprogramable. If not are there any other options???

There is a guy who can flash your ECU and put a performance program (or whatever you want to call it) onto your computer. Shoot him an e-mail at:Kolak@aol.com (His name is Nick) He should be able to take care of you.

Well you can't custom the factory computer the way yopu would like to but you can run a piggy back ECU like the one at this link.http://www.splitsec.com/spike/jeep/spikejeep.htm

Then you can do ANYTHING you want with the help of a laptop and a wide band 02 sensor.

Actually, you can do a custom flash on a 97 4.0 PCM...call Dave at B & G Chrysler in WArren , MI...his # is 586-758-2003. He is an x Chrysler Engineer that is probably the most knollegable guy on Chrysler PCM's in the country and still works very closely with them...they do all our reprogramming for our V8 swaps along with solving SKIM issues and fuel mappping for performance. I am sure he can help. Evan

thanks for the info guys, but dave from D & G wont touch the 4.0L he only does the v8 conversions. And Nick is all the way in california, no way i could drive all the way out there for a tune. does anyone know anyone more local???

also, i was looking into the splitsec piggyback computer, but i do not believe it does everyhting i would like, you cannot tune the closed loop fuel maps. and because forced induction can generate boost at part throttle, this could lead to problems.
