***Anyone out there in the Paradise region***

I'm hoping to find someone semi-local to the High lakes that can drop me a snow report for the passes through Lott's lake and spring valley this spring. Also, anyone familiar with the trails into Saucer Lake, Green Island, and Frog lakes. Thanks in advance!

Whatch want to know. I'm goin up Wednesday morning to Spring Valley. As far as the other 3 lakes you listed...No roads only walking trails.. at least the last time I went in there. Campbell, Long, Grassy and Saddle is where everyone goes. And for some decent rock crawling go into Morris or down to Bear. Good fishing at Campbell and Long. Snow is almost all gone by early May and the biting flys are usually gone by early to mid June. Elevation ranges between 5000 to 6500 feet.

Yep, the road into spring valley should be pretty side hilly, within the next couple weeks, unless it keeps snowing. We have a large group planning on going up the weekend of the 6th and camping.

Thanks for the snow report! What 6th are you talking about (may, June?). I was planning a trip in the last weekend in May. I wanted to be sure that the lakes were thawed. Last year I got all the way to the T and found Lotts and Spring Valley were still frozen over...and that was the first week of June.

Have any of you guys ever come into Long/Campbell/Saddle lakes the back way up feather river canyon? There is supposed to be a PG&E maintained gate there...

I don't need info on Campbell and Long (my family's been hitting those lakes for 50+ years). I really want to find someone that can let me know when the thaw has set in (so I don't waste a trip up).

When you walked in to saucer/frog/green island did you fish them?

I saw fish but had no luck catching. I bet if you used a float tube and some fly's youd do ok. They are very small and frog is just a mud puddle with no real feeder stream to keep or support much for fish. Green island and Saucer both have Soda creek feeding them until early July so a little better. DFG does stock the high lakes on occasion but I don't think they've done it in the last couple years.

As far as the thaw goes...if it warms up like it is supposed to later this week I would say that the lakes will thawed by the end of April. Post again as it gets closer to when you plan on coming this way and Wilson, 5spd, Jess or myself will let you know whats going on. Between the 4 of us I bet that at least one of us is up there every week.

Snow melting fast. Lakes still frozen but thinning around the edges. I'd say 2-6 ft of snow depending on where you look

We were just up there on saturday. The snow seems to be melting fast. I'd say If your planning on coming up in may the the lakes should be mostly thawed, though there will still be snow on the ground. That's actually when the real fun starts, getting over the drifts that are left at that time of year can get interesting.

Our trip is off for the 6th, nobody is done yet with their crap. I drove out to Hwy 70 last year from the grassy and frog lake areas. It was a long day, 1 roll over and we found an awesome section that may be hard to find again, since a fire road was made, which makes it easy to miss.

Anyone get back up to the lakes after this last snow fall? I heard that there was anywhere from 12" to 18" inches. Anyone know if the lakes are thawed?

Ever since I graduated 2 weeks ago, I have been working from 6 am to 4 at my new job and 5 to 9:30 at UPS. I was also gone last weekend for my cousins graduation. I put my notice in at UPS this week, only 1 week left! The truck should be done a week from wed at the latest. I missing some good trips dammit!
