In the victims own words:
Well the xxxx Jeepspeed was sitting on a trailer in my driveway getting ready to go to paint on Saturday when someone tried to steal her and put my desert racing dreams to rest for another year. I have have spent countless hours and thousands of dollars to put her back into shape. I recieved a call from my wife Thursday after 11 a.m. that she came home to some guy rolling out from under my trailer and running away through my neighbors yard.
She called 911 and the police where there with dogs and helicopters within minutes and caught him under my neighbors bushes.
The only thing that saved me was his stupidity and some luck. He had already tried to hitch up my trailer to his truck but missed the jack stand under the trailer I had as precautionary support. So when he tried to drive off with it the jack stand caught and pulled the trailer off his hitch and the trailer tounge slammed to the ground. He then proceeded to pull his truck out of our drive and back onto the street and bring back a jack and some boards to try to get it back up so he could hook back up that is when my wife pulled down our drive and found him rolling around under the trailer.
Needless to say I am very pleased with the response of my local police. I cant imagine what I would have had to go through with my insurance company. I dont know if he knew what he was stealing or if he drove by and say the big blue Kings and thought it looked like it was worht something.
Sad part is the truck he was using we found out this afternoon was his dads. My wife saw him picking it up and went to tell him I had his jack stuck under my trailer. When she asked how long it had been stolen he said it hadnt. It was his son that had made the attempt to steal my stuff. My wife said he looked pretty broke up about it.
So I guess what I am trying to say is no matter how secure you feel with your suroundings or how safe you feel with you stuff sitting around your house ( the biggest crime wittness recently was a highschool grapefruit war) . If you want to see it when you get home lock it up tight. I know I will from now on. You never know who is driving around scoping you cheet out.
