OK OK OK

I am new to this and I made a mistake.

I put money into a dana30. Mostly in the brakes.

Now I have a bought a 1979 Cherokee and plan to swap the front 44 into my 2A.

I want to have the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern..so here is my plan.

Take the front 44 and narrow it a bit..moser innershafts.

Take warn dana 30 outers with 297 U joints and put all my dana 30 outers on. Put the warn or superwinch hubs and lock the axle.

I was running 38.5 inch gumbo mudders for the mud but now I am going with 35,s for teh southern IN trails.

My qusetion is will this front set up work? What problems will I have? Are there any expenses I may be overlooking?

I only gave 300 for the whole cherokee..running 360 and all...Gears match up...I dont think Im overlooking anything.

I have spent hours on the pirate forum with the search button so please dont tell me to do this. I want advice for my specific build up.

Are you still running the dana 18 transfercase in the flatfender?

Forget about shortening and changing to 5 lug.

Run both wagoneer D44 axles in the flatty.

matching width less work with cutting and knuckle swap crap.

the rear d44 that usually came in the wagoneers was offset and perfect for swaps into dana18 equipped jeeps.

IF you read my signature you will see I upgraded to a one ton transmission and transfer case.

SM465 and a Rockwell case

Whooops.

In that case I would still look for a 6 lug rear to go with the front end.

Go 60's buddy :D

Didnt mean to come off "strong" any man who is a friend of jeeps is a friend of mine.

I have wheels with tires mounted..freshly turned 30 rotars...new brake pads and cylinders..I just thought I could get some real strong warn outer stubs and keep all my other stuff for a decent price..if it will work ok..thats the question.

Yes it will work. You're going to have to narrow both sides if you want it to be flatfender width. If you only narrow the long side the pumpkin will move over towards the center too much and you may have clearance issues with the front driveshaft and bellhousing/oilpan. Your Dana 30 outers will bolt on to the Cherokee 44.

I plan on going a little wider..I have a jeep dana 44 lined up for the rear(right now its a model 20-one peice) I plan on doing the narrowing myself and am going to get moser shafts anyhow so that should work out ok.

I did put a 2 inch body lift on it and raised the motor tranny and t-case as high as possible.

Thanks for letting me know that this will work...plan on starting as soon as I can.(recovering from collasped lung)
