: 44 rear disc conversion.
Yeah I know use the damn search engine!
Anyway, I have seen the web page showing the use of cast brackets from a Scout front 44. But I dont want to use those.
Would the wagoneer caliper bracket work? Anyone got any pics of this set up or one that can be done relitively cheap?
Its going on a scout rear 44.
I am also contemplating using a line lock for the E brake.
Although it would be a first , my jeep has never had a dang e brake.
Thanks
CJ-Jeeper 03-25-2002, 06:03 PM Line-loc will not work as an emergency brake, only good for a short term parking brake. You knew that though, right?
Sorry, can't help you with the brackets.
larryboy 03-25-2002, 06:15 PM chevy half ton front backing plates should work,87 and older.
have them on my willys dana 44.
Nope I didnt know that? Is there another type of hydralic ( Spelling) locking device that could be used?
I geuss I could try the cadillac style calipers but I cant afford another loan right now. :)
Im open to sugestions here.
Thanks for all the help so far.
4-wheeler1 03-25-2002, 08:48 PM I HAVE A CHEROKEE 44 ,I USED THE TSM KIT . IT CAME WITH BOLT ON BRACKETS, ROTORS , ALL THE HARDWARE TO INSTALL THE ONLY THING SEPERATE I HAD TO BUY WAS THE CALIPERS. I USED CALIPERS FROM THE REAR OF A CADDY EL DORADO (1986-1988) IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. THEY HAVE E - BRAKE PROVISIONS . ALL I HAD TO DO WAS GET LONGER E-BRAKE CABLES FROM PICK-N-PULL. THE KIT WAS ONLY 249.00, CALIPERS (REBUILT)WERE 69.00 EACH TSM PH # IS(303)-688-6882 ......I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR PRODUCT
CJ-Jeeper 03-25-2002, 08:50 PM An emergency brake is for when the hydraulics go out, so it has to be mechanical. Jess has a disk setup that goes on the t/c output. I know he is selling the D300 version. Don't know if he has one for the D20 yet.

These are the same thing as the Waggie 44 caliper mounts.
YJ4RoX 03-26-2002, 07:10 AM Does anyone know what rotors to use with the waggy or chevy backing plates? Is it the 7/8" thick CJ ones, or do you use the f150 rotors? Do you just drill a hole pattern to match the rear flange bolts to mount the plate, or do weld it on the axle tube? Also, do the rotors go over the wheel studs or behind the axle flange, with the studs pressed through them?
I only need a parking brake, to run the OBA while airing up, cant do that in gear. While winching someone out, etc...
Whats involved in setting up a line lock? I know its a newbie question but hell help a guy out:flipoff2:
X-Jeeper 03-26-2002, 01:03 PM Sam's OffRoad's got some weld-on caliper brackets that use GM "D52" calipers, gotta do the rest yourself though. TSM looks like a good/cheap option for a bolt-on kit. Anyone know if stock XJ/YJ e-brake cables fit those El-dorado calipers?
Chevy D44 calipers will fit the F150 rotors, that's what I've got on my front D44 - Chevy flat top knuckles, GM calipers, F150 hubs 'n rotors.
I'm looking at converting my rear XJ D44 (Dutchman axle shafts to change to 5x5.5") to discs as well. Hell, right now I'd just be happy to find some 10x2.5" drums that come standard with the 5x5.5" bolt pattern... Anyone know if there's such a beast? I know CJ drums are 10", dunno how wiiide they are though. The OEM XJ D44 drums redrilled to 5x5.5" don't like to play well with 5x5.5" rims (ar767's), the rims don't seat properly on the small drum flange so my tires are all wobbly.
WheelingPiazza 03-26-2002, 03:35 PM When I was investigating my options I looked at weld on Brackets, Making my own, Stainless steel Brakes, And TSM
Over all I went with TSM, Good customer service, Weath of knowledge and resonable prices.
I am running a waggy d44 rear with TSM brackets and GM small calipers.
THe rotors fit over the wheel studs like a h and are drilled for the correct bolts pattern.
For mine any 92+ ifs chevy 1/2 light duty truck will work as far as rotors, I could have gone the caddy ebrake setup but decided to go the t-case mounted ebrake.

check this one out,if using the 7/8 jeep rotor they go behind the flange.
