: ARB questions
Jason M 12-21-2005, 09:11 PM So I have this D90 ARB and a carrier.
Most of the parts are there but a couple pieces are missing. What are they??
I assume that there is a special spanner nut that goes on the O ring side of the ARB. Also, reccomendations on a vendor for a setup kit and a multi spline pinon flange?? The one I have is 4 spline??
I cannot believe it is actually 4 spline. That amazes me. Course, it was the ring gear that broke, not the pinion so I guess 4 spline was perfectly fine :)

Give Bill at GBR a call. Can answer your questions and sell you the parts.
Pete
afirover 12-22-2005, 08:26 AM remove put in box send to arb they referb for free you buy parts and then they ship it back ................................ factory referb for free .......now thats a good deal
Serious One 12-22-2005, 09:06 AM Jason,
That sux. Sorry for any parts that aren't there.
Give Bill a call and see if he knows where they went. If you send it to ARB and tell them it's mine, they might even give you some 'extras'. I'll warn them it's coming if you decide to send it up there.
Bummer...any other issues?
Jason M 12-22-2005, 09:12 AM Not a one, and no appologies necessary :)
Send it back to ARB.. Hmmm, the entire thing??
That would be novel. I was thinking that I would just give Tech Tim a call and see what he can do for me..
Serious One 12-22-2005, 09:37 AM I dunno about sending the whole third-member back. Maybe just call Tim and see what he thinks. He'll probably hook you up, he's pretty generous like that.

Naw.... You'd do better saying you have nothing to do with Mike....... :D
Serious One 12-22-2005, 11:54 AM Yeah, I spoke way too soon.
Hey Tim, stay away from Chris, I hear he has the flu! Hehe.

Hey Tim, I left a message on your phone.
Is there a better way to get a hold of ya?

That or pm me, but I am in and out so much that if anyone has tech Qs, just call in and ask for the tech dept. if I am not in, one of my techs will help you out.
Jason M 05-09-2006, 04:55 PM Finally getting to this, I called Bill at GBR and chatted for a while. I still need to see if the Pressure side "cap" was distorted when the rin gear failed...
He seems to have most everything on hand. Should not be too expensive to get this up and rolling..
SeaRover 05-09-2006, 05:27 PM 4 spline, yes ... can you believe it? i hesitate to call them splines ... more like dove tail joinery!
Jason M 05-09-2006, 06:49 PM Anyone happen to have the bearing numbers for the diff bearings??
Carrier and pinion please.
bowtracer 05-09-2006, 09:49 PM Looks like you might need a spacer for the outer pin bearring
m88046 cone
m88010 cup flange side
hm801310 gear cup
hm801346x cone you may have trouble with this one if you do pm me
lm102910
lm102949 these are for 56's i have the older arb #'s in the barn I think they are lm 502??? what ever

I have never seen a Rover pinion shaft break at the 4 spline area. Seen hundreds with broken teeth of course. Have even seen a couple break the pinion flange thread off in front diffs, but never the 4 spline area. In fact years ago on my old 6x6 I bolted a helical gear from my power divider on the 4 spline shaft to transfer the drive to the extra axle , so the shaft was subject to bending and tensile loads as well as torque loads and I still never broke the shaft there. That is one area that Rover didn't have to improve. But they changed to fine splines and didn't change the profile of the ring and pinion teeth or design a hypoid diff. Their engineers are a bunch of amateurs.
Bill.
