I have done a search into how someone might have reworked their battery tray to accept a larger battery, ie; an Interstate commercial grade 1000 amp big boy that measures 13"L x 7"D x 9 1/4"H, including posts. Unfortunately, my measurements of the stock location will not allow it. I really do not want to remote-mount it. Has anyone done this?

Thanx for the info, I totally forgot about this site. But I thought that the XJ diesel tray only accomodated up to 12", also I have the alternator clearance problem. I CAN fit the 13" monster in the original location, if I were to relocate my alternator. Still considering all options laid out for me though.;)

yea the diesel tray will only support a 12" battery, but there is more room over on the other side where that tray goes to modify it to fit your bigger battery.

If you want that many Amp why not just run one of those marine Optima Battery's?

Right now, it's the money issue-I have no money.(4 kids come first).
Just trying to use what I have until that darn ship comes in.....wait......just heard on the news that it sank, struck an iceberg or somethung:D
I have checked out the other side, will clear the P.S. punp, and there is a washertank and the carbon canister (have to comply with emissions) to be relocated. No big deal, if some hoses can be reused.
I have found a battery tray at a local commercial rig store that could definitely be used. Still the money issue, for now.
:flipoff2: I think I knew the answer already, but seeing if someone else had done it.:flipoff2: :D
I'm not out looking right now but as I recall, I don't remember anything that would stop you from relocating the PDC back a few inches if you ditch the wiper fluid reservoir. Then you could turn the tray and just cut off one end. Any way you go, though, seems like its gonna cost you more than just buying an Optima or some other nice battery that fits in the stock location.

looks like this sums it up. Putting it off for now. In the meantime I'm dropping the spare 650 amp beside the 8274, plenty of room there since the warn sets offset.
Thanx for the input, just trying to do as little as possible. :jeep:
