Here's some pics of mine. They are 4" x 4" x .25"

I had to design the rear mount differently due to the Canyon State YJ kit in the rear. Normally the rear mount is the same as the front mount. I'm hoping I don't hang up too much on that tubing at the rear. Otherwise it's back to the drawing board for a new way to mount the rear.

Here's a link (http://www.azrockcrawler.com/_images/2001/6-01nerfbars/6-01nerfbars.html) to how I built my sliders, there's also a link on that page to the directions I based mine off off. Two things, beef up the the frame where the nerf bar mounts while your in there and you may want to add some beef to the mounting angle. I managed to get a rock over the top of the slider and when I backed up it bent the 1/4" mounting plate like it was nothing. I tied my cage into the front slider mount (the tie plate bolts right over the section that bent), and for the rear I had enough room to weld another piece of 2x2 angle on top of the rear mount plate. Seems to have worked good, I got the nerf bar under a rock twice on Sunday and it didn't move.

They are real easy to make, use a piece of cardboard for a template to get them to fit nice and good around the fender flares. Then just run some sort of stringers to the frame like how MM did. If you plan on 35's then Start trimming!

BTW mine are 1/8" angle

I used 2x4x.25"wall under the angle steel to add strength and a step. I slam these on the rocks all the time without a worry (Right Oilburner?). They are heavy though... but kind of smooths out the ride a bit.

'nuther shot. Didn't really lose much clearance because they replaced a set of Smittybuilt tubes that had been significantly trashed. Those catalog tube rails are good for parades, but not much else...

Just take some 1/4" diamond plate steel....about 8" wide, long enough to go between the wheel wells and bend it at a 90*.
Take some grade 8 bolts and place 5 on them through your body, and bolt the steel to the body.....

I have used this for years, doesnt dent your body, and im pretty damn rough on it! Also you dont loose any ground clearence doing this!

Thats what a friend did on his TJ and worked well, just used 4x4 angle and bolted to body. That was my plan on the Sammi as well
