: How did spidertrex new hybrid axle hold up.:)

Anyone watch the new spidertrex rock buggy in action at Farmington. :)

Would like to know how did the new Dana44/sidekick axle comb assemble hold up to the tough courses of ARCO /RCAA in farmington.

So far the best swap over for the stock zuki axles looks like :D

Yoda axles ( toyata axles up to 35 inch tires)
or
Dana 44 with the warn alloy shafts and ctm u joints ( tire sizes 36 inch

Does anyone else have any opinion on whether it is worth puting this new hybrid axles in the Zuki.
:smokin: :)

Very few Zuki's breaking Toyota Birfields, and there are the new Longfield's if ya got that problem. The Toyota guys are all over them. If I ever break another one I'm going this route. Much more cost-effective.:D

I personally watched Desertoy run his 38 TSL's up and down the Hammers and at Calrocs with the new Long Birfs. Not to mention he's double stacked and his rig weighs around 3500#'s. I think there worth what there asking...

just a thought.

And thats on a rig a thousand pounds heavier than a Zuk, with double the torque of you sammy guys ('cept OILBURNER) and 223:1 gearing.

they is no limit on the size tire u want to run on what ever axle u us on your rig.:flipoff2:
My preferance is using 35 with yoda axles cuz i have seen yoda axles broken with 33 with a 1300 power plant Example The red Trail tough rig in the little slucie.

Now it is a different story when you put the long field axle i might go up on one tire size. :rasta:

The main thing but this topic is whether it is worth building a hybrid axle using suzuki or sidekick axle parts and puting it into a zuki. Like the King Kong/Form trail tough or the new axle spidertrex will be coming out with.

Y have i posted this topic??? :D
Have a friend asking me ? about these hybrid axles and i have tried to convince him ether put yoda axles or dana 44 and not spent the money on a hybird axle which cost $$$$$$ for one.
Cuz for the same price for one hybird axle you can build both front and rear axle ether yoda or dana 44:D
Also If you break one of these hybrid axles how easily are u going to find the parts, compared to a yoda or dana parts on the trail.
:p:usa:
what do you thing would u spent ur $$$$$ for a hybird axle to put in to a zuki.   :grinpimp:

do a search ! there was a big thread about dana vs toy swap pro's cons etc...

Being new to the toy axle conversion process (doing it now) I would highly recamend this or the dana swap to anyone. The extra beef is too simple. I had thought about the same options you have mentioned. Keep it simple and keep it stock. Souped up kick parts will surly work. But for the time and $ spent go with a simple "stock" upgrade...

Plus the unsprung weight doesnt hurt either....

I'd say go toys, cheaper than a hybrid, electric lockers, if you choose:grinpimp: , still relatively light...That's what I'm doing anyhow. Good $$ that would be spent on a hybrid can be used in other areas of the rig. :D

I'm with dangerber.

Hybrid axles means mondo expensive to fix when it breaks. Find something off a Toyota or a Dana based or whatever you are into but I'd avoid mega buck hybrids.

When you break in Buttfuck, Saskatchewan where are you going to find replacement parts to get home? Even if you trailer its still a pain in the ass.

Just my take.

okay to make it simple for you to undersand the 'S I have 3 main Question for you to openly answer.

1) Do U think it is worth the money to build and put a hybrid axle into a zuki, and how easy is it to find part for these type of axles:question:

2) Two part Question {modified axles meaning longfield shafts/ stonger u joints like ctm}
A) What's the max size tire you would run on a yoda axle stock or mod axle?
B) what's the max size tire you would run on a dana 44 axle stock or mod axle?

3) What axle would you put into your zuki, { New hybrid axle, Yoda axle, Dana 44 axle} if you had extra $$$ siting around. and Y would you put this particular axle into your zuki:question:

( all these information would be helpful for a friend who has "NO IDEA" in building a zuki.):D :rasta:

Personally i am with the dana 44 in my zuki with 36's or 37's.

0ILBURNER

1) Not particularly.
If you break anything, it will most likely be one of the custom axles or R&P.

2) A) 36's on stock Toy axles.
38's on Longfield's.

B) 37's on stock D44.
38+ on mod. D44.
(sizes can vary according to happy-pedal use)

3) Shaved Toy's w/ electric high-pinion diff's. & Longfields :grinpimp:

I am interested in the outcome of the new Spidertrax axle... (one of the original questions that was never answered).
I run beefed stock axles, so I can't answer his questions myself.
Take a look at my post count... I usually only pipe up if I have something constructive to add to the thread, otherwise I would have lost this 'newbie' tag a long time ago.

So, anyone seen the new Spidertrax axles in action?

When you say Toy axles, what years are you referring to Oilburner??

I am not sure which years had electric lockers...I want to start collecting parts for my Samurai buildup...

Does 'Toy' axles or 'Yoda' axles differ from LC axles?

Obviously I'm trying to learn the lingo, and hope to be a Samurai owner soon...

To answer the original topic question in my own way: I'd run LC axles, or if you don't mind the compount angle, then MT axles...

I mean Toyota pickup axles - ~1980-1985.
Landcruiser axles are no stronger, but have much larger ring gear = less ground clearance at the chunks. The offset chunks are nice, tho.
The electric lockers come in the Front of FJ80 Landcruisers, as does the high-pinion diff's. Having a Hi-diff in the rear nearly negates the centered chunk problem - the pinion gear is aligned probably enough to not use a couble-cardain driveshaft. :D
