Its still work in progress...
I'd heard & seen so many guys turning and cutting-down diff housings that I figured any idiot can do it. Well, now I'm one of those idiots <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/thefinger.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
First I went and grabbed the ugliest of my three spare Chevy D44 housings. (sound familiar?) Then I grabbed the shortest long-side D44 axle shaft I had - in this case, one from an EB44. Its a full 8-1/8" shorter than the GM shaft. Yeah, its kinda skinny, but we're only talking 1600cc's!

Grinding that housing end off sure is a PITA. Here's a pic right after I whacked off the 8-1/8" of axle tube.

I did the math and it looks like its going to measure in at 59.5" across the WMS when its done. Then all I gotta do it bolt it into the Sidekick <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
