i searched and found nothing. This may seem rather noob of me. But Ive seen alot of cool posts with things to do with TJs and YJs and the sort but nothing really with XJs. Im in highschool, im poor as hell and i really wanna do more to my jeep. Im just getting a K&N intake and thorley headers on so hooray for that. now i wanna know what kinda cheap tricks are out there. Or at least whats practical.

Take off anti-sway bars. Be careful though, it will make it more erratic on the road.

Oh, and if you don't mind a bit of hacking, trim your fenders, that looks pretty badass.

I trimmed my fenders (mostly to get rid of rust that was under the flares. Took off the flares, used the saw just up from the flare mount holes. no more rust and takes away the grocery getter look. In the meantime decide what you want before you really get started. You will save a heap in the long run if you only do things once.

I wouldn't believe everything I read at NAXJA.ORG, I once posted up something about crappy manufacturers products and everyone told me I was an asshole. I could never understand why people would believe poor products and customer service should be kept secretive. Look on pirate, if your products suck, piraters will tell you. For instance, search for RockKrawler suspensions or Rocky Road Outfitters, two perfect examples of questionable outfits. Dont expect to find that shit at NAXJA.ORG

Sorry, rant is done now:D

Remove your rear sway bar, make some disconnects for the front sway bar, trim your fender and move your flares up, cut lower portion of the front fender off even with the bumper, modifiy your doors hinges to make the doors removable. Head to a junkyard and buy XJ skids, towhooks and a D44 for the rear.

ooo lol ur the one that posted that pic a while back. sweet shit. yeah i told u to go to naxja... but really im starting to get fed up with that place too. so much more experiance here, and youll make it as long as you stay in the noob section until you do something out of average and post it. but rock on for us high schoolers that build our jeeps off part time hours at the local hardware store

there are some store bought stuff that just plain sucks. Get a small welder and some good grinders/saws and start making stuff. You will soon realize that what someone charges you 300 bucks for can be made for 50 and sometimes much better. The search button is your friend, and stay outta NAXJA, :D

or to make doors removable get the stupid ass torx bolts outa there and go to local hardware store and buy normal bolts to put in and then the doors can be removed with a ratchet instead of messing with the integrity of the hinges and to whoever said buggy i wanted to but this was my dd so and i dont have the money to buy another one and buggy this ... need any parts?

Yep get a welder.
Hardly anything from a manufacture will fit with the next manufactured item you install.

1. le baron hood louvers to let some heat out (i think the le baron ones are it)
2. a rear dana 44 from and early xj (rare)
3. find a 4 banger xj with a stick at a junkyard and rip the 4.10 gears out. or i hear a 4 banger with an auto should have 4.56's.
4. grab some some spare axle shafts while you are there.
5. the steering box out of 82-92 irok z is supposedly the shit. much quicker steering and such. (i havent put mine on yet. so i cant speak from experience)
6. orange top injectors from a 5.0 mustang. i installed some and the throttle is a little more responsive. not bad for 10 bucks.

thats all i can think of right now. i would seriously see if you can talk the metal shop teacher into showing you some fab skills. get in there every day and hone your welding and then you can make cages and sliders and bumpers oh my. good stuff.

and bigfunkin,
why not go get an xj thats screwed except for the unibody and swap everything. alot of work but its worth it in my opinion.
