For those that have done the conversion to an auto and V8 did you need a new speedo cable?? And if so, how much longer/where did you get it?

Dunno about length, but any speed shop can make you up a speedo cable.

I didn't need longer for mine. My transfer is only about 2" back from origonal location. I shoved most of my swap forward.

Well, going from the stock tranny/tcase to a C6/203/splittcase will add a couple of inches even if I move the motor forward...

55 cables are longer. Not sure it will be long enough for your application though. But if you have one handy it is worth a shot.

You can get toyota spedo cable extension. I don't know the part # but I use one between my VSS and tcase, then the factory cable screws onto the other side of the VSS, but the cables could screw together if the VSS was not there. Check with Marlin I bet he would know.

Got mine from Nevada Speedometer. I added 18 inches, which is on the long side. I think 12-14 inches should be fine. Speedo cable is connected to the Atlas behind a TH400 and 350 motor.

Apparently MArlin's extension cable will work for a 60 too which is cool. NOw if I can only find a non booty fab way of getting a VSS to work with the 5.0...

Doesent painless make a VSS 2wire pluse that goes on at the speedo cable?
Or maby thats just for GM TBI.
Or you can use a reluctor ring on the tail shaft.

The reluctor ring thing really makes me nervous with how far a stock split tcase hangs down.. If it was a centered rear output I would not be as concerned but....

I can get you one made for ~$45, 7' long. More than long enough for an automatic on a 55. That is what I have. Speedo shop in Sacramento.
