ok i have a stock height 84 4runner and would like to know what I need to run 35’s on it? I am not worried about the gearing because of the marlin crawler case. But can I run 35’s on it with some fender mod? Do I need wheel spacers? If I need a lift what height do I need?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I have/had (its currently a wreck in my yard) an 82 toyota on 35bfg's. I had a 3in tough country lift and a 3in body lift. I had TONS of room for them. You could get away with a 3in suspension lift and a 1in body lift. Or just a 4in susp. lift. You wont need wheel spacers. You may have to do some fender trimming depending on the amount of flex in your lift.

If your on a budget look into putting rear Toyota springs up front and 63" Chevy springs in the rear. Should net you some where between 3-4.5" of lift. You might want to go with 1.5" wheel spacers depending on your wheel backspacing.
Here is the rear up front FAQ thread.

not much, if you move the axle forward a bit you could probably get away with 3" or so, and the marlin gears wont help on the street but you probably already know that.

Ok so it looks like the conscience is I will need a minimum of 3” lift with wheel spacers depending on the rim. I should also look at moving the front axel forward. Correct?
What is the reasoning for moving the axel forward? Is it so the wheels will not hit the cab under compression of the front?
PSUyota - Thanks for the quick reply
Renaud33 - Thanks for the link. I am on a budget and the wife is watching like a hawk. :cool2: Thanks for the link i see that the rear springs will move the axel forward 2 inches.
Al Kaholick - Thanks i am now looking for the most cost effective way to move the axel forward.

yes ots so the tires dont hit the rear of the wheel well (also your floor so you cant just cut it off without a big production). The cheapest easiest way to do it is to make a hybrid pack using the main leaf (and maybe more youre not going to get the same answer from anyone on how to put this pack together, just run what works for you. I used the top two and the rest from a lifted wrangler rear pack) and bolt them up and then do something else out back.
