: cheap wiring harness?
schuss 03-26-2002, 01:01 PM Okay, the jeep is going to be running fairly soon (I hope), and I need a new wiring harness. The thing is, I don't want to deal with a shitty one, so I hear Centech is the way to go. Only problem is I don't want to drop 300 bux for harness+switch kit for 12V. so is there any place that's got good deals on these things?
jeepinit 03-26-2002, 02:12 PM If you want a decent generic wiring harness that isn't spacific to any model the cheepest I've seen is about $250. The one for the jeep is $300 and those are the painless wiring harnesses and you can get them at summit. www.summitracing.com. I needed one for my jeep but then I saw how much they were and since then I have been adapting my old one to the new setup.

7-circuit (3 constant hot/4 ignition hot), weather resistant, cicuit isolating auxiliary fuse block
The safe way to add electrical accessories is with Cirkit Boss, the first circuit isolator that provides both constant and ignition hot circuits. Instead of tapping into an existing wire of spare circuit at the fuse block, Cirkit Boss is an add-on, relay activated fuse block, activated by a small wire from any ignition source. Cirkit Boss protects bulbs, accessories and computers from the harmful spikes that may occur in a poorly connected power supply. This Cirkit Boss unit is made using TXL cross link polyurethane wire rated to 275 degrees F at 600 V, and it includes a 30 amp inline circuit breaker, relay, mounting hardware, and an assortment of terminals. All seven circuits are individually fused for up to 20 amp applications and use a heavy duty 30 amp relay. All wires are machine terminated for reliability.
This unit provides three constant hot and four ignition hot circuits, and can be mounted under the hood in unprotected areas. For use in heavy duty automotive or marine applications where dust and moisture resistance is important.
Sold as a kit. $57.95
schuss 03-26-2002, 03:01 PM did you use that for your whole harness hooder?
HighHooder 03-26-2002, 03:05 PM that is what my brother is using, I am thinking that I'm going to use something along this line...

JJeep74 03-26-2002, 09:16 PM I just finished rewiring my 74 Cj-5 with a painless kit it set me back 350 bucks but it was pretty simple and everything works properly for the first time since i have had it.
Keith Haw 03-26-2002, 09:27 PM Any one try the "buggie" wiring harness by Bug On. It's nothing fancy but has 6 fuses for basic wiring. Was designed for buggy/sandrail and sell for about $40.

schuss 03-26-2002, 09:32 PM think I might try the harness above seeing as all I have to run is the starter and lights.
CJ_JEEPER 03-27-2002, 06:31 AM You might want to check these guys out. I'm about two months out from rewiring my rig and I might try them out unless I get bad feedback.

They have a colored kit for like 10 bucks more. Anybody heard one-way or the other on these kits. All the kits I’ve looked at look pretty straight forward. I have the feeling that regardless of who you use, no matter how you slice it, wiring is going to be a bitch.:(
schuss 03-27-2002, 08:19 AM I'm not afraid, as I've done custom wiring in my computer, as well as some stuff on my bike. Wiring isn't that much of a bitch, it's just tedious and I don't want to deal with junk wiring as I have no ampmeter nor time to mess with it.
