I'm adding about 10"s to the frame and body of my CJ-7 to make a scrambler bob tail type rig. I'm adding another body mount to each side to support the extra length. I plan on replacing all my old cheap ass 2" body lift with a nicer 1" body lift at the same time. Would a scrambler body lift kit have the extra body mounts for my application?
Also what are you guys doing to prevent rust on your new or modified frames? I'm going to paint or POR 15 the outside but what about the inside? Has anyone used weld through primer? Living in the rust belt blows ass!
Thanks

I just painted my junk, but I don't live where rust is a problem.
I stretched mine 11". I am thinking if you did it 10" you could get a soft top from an Unlimited to fit it, if you want a full top. I just use a bikini for a CJ, like I said, I don't live where rust(=water) is a problem.
I don't think that you need an extra body mount, especially if you did the roll cage right.
If you are doing a 1" BL check out my site, down at the bottom.

Cool I'll check out your site. I thought about the unlimited top but heard its a different system than the CJs and its also 15" longer than a stock TJ

I have used weld through primer, and that things is thick! I used it for body paint and sucked, had to remove it to make a smooth finish, but for the frame should work well. I have seen people using herculiner roll on type stuff to prevent rust as well, or if youa re taking the frame completely apart, and could have a big enough dip place, you can have it powdercoated but could be $$. My recommendatiuon would be to find a YJ or TJ frame to work from, I believe they are better overall, and also zinc plated to help prevent rust if ai Ma not mistaken. Ams starting to tear down a project as well, so need to figure out the frame...

I can't do the whole frame swap or dip thing since I'm basically cutting the sucker in half and bulding a center section. My frame is in great shape and I'm trying to keep it that way :)
