Yea I know theres one in every croud.... LOL

What I like to find out is what is the extreme that I can chop a S-10 4x4 frame (108 in wb) and still be usable. Can I cut the springs (front) to get a better angle on the driveshaft ?

Is it possible to cut the frame front and back and split the difference so I only take 7 1/2 in the front and the back instead of taking it all from the rear?

The wheel base on the Fiero is 93 in, BTW

Any help would be appreciated

knaffie ;

Yes that is what I want to build, not to that extreme though.
did you own the vehicle by any chance, and if so would you consider sharing your knowledge on the car/truck so I can get the project started?

TIA

My guess is that you have not looked under an S-10, for if you had, then you wouldn't be asking this.

What do you mean by "usable"? For what application?

my one buddie did this with a firebird and a blazer chassie, looks nice but cant use it for anything other then shows, and whats the point of having a 4x4 if you cant wheel it (safely)

Well as a matter of fact I havent ........ thats why I came here to ask for help! But it seems that everyone is so disengererous that I will never know if this can be done....

BTW the front and rear suspensions on the Fiero are modular and I can
drop both the front and rear suspensions off by removing 4 bolts front and rear and dropping the brake lines. I'm not lookind to build a monster anything, just building a winter car that will serve me well during the sometimes overabundant winters that we have along the lake here in Wisconsin.

Seems that all I am going to get here is why not instead of how I can, real shame... I thought that by the forums reputation that I would have gotten the info that I needed, none of the popcorn/fell on his head crap that I would expect from a forum of well to be honest 4x4 snobs. You had your fun at my expense I will do it anyhow without your "expertise" Thanks for the warm welcome and the invaluable tech help that I have recieved........

what are you whining about? get a fiero, get a truck frame like a 66-77 or even 78-79 ford bronco bolt your homoghey fiero body to it and wheel the piss out of it. i mean seriously, you have a frame/rolling chassis, so your motor, tranny, transfercase, axles etc etc are all there, strip the fiero of it's drivetrain, bolt what's left ontop of the frame (you'll probably have to fab up some mounts) then there you go. you'll probably have to shorten the frame so you dont have rails sticking out from behind and in front of your pointless car and there you go. but seriously, why can't you just get a jeep and save yourself the trouble :flipoff2:

p.s. don't bother replying to me, i won't come back to check it.
