My jeep was built for mud with 38.5/15/15 Gumbo Mudders but now I am getting into making it a trail ready rig.
Im going with smaller tires to avoid breaking stuff everytime out.
I CANT AFFORD 60's, for that matter I cant afford super swamper's. The local tire guy deals mostly cooper tires, he can get me their sst mud terrain for about 135 a tire mounted and balanced.(35/12.50/15)
Has anyone used these...how was the performance, wear and such.
Thanks

I don't have experiance with these tire but I would assume that the tread wear, and performance is about the same as a BFG MT. They are probably only two ply, but still as long as they're cheap don't worry. Possibly get a road hazzard warranty.

Cooper makes a lot of the 'no name brand' tires. Around here they are called 'wildcats', but I've been other places where they were called something else.
for a while their mud terrain type tire looked very much like a BFG. Recently for some reason you can't get them in the same tread pattern anymore, it looks more like an all terrain. But I suspect that they do still make them, just they aren't bringing them here for some reason.
When they had the mud terrain type, the performance was very similar to a BFG MT. Guys around here were buying them because they were a whole lot cheaper than BFGs, but they are nowhere near as strong in the sidewall as a BFG, I've personally seen a lot of sliced sidewalls on these things.
So it all boils down to what you want it for. To give you an idea, I bought a set - they are my 'street' tires that I use to drive around town on. For real trail action I use a real trail tire - swamper SX. But for light duty work they are probably just fine.

I ran those for many years and boy are they hard. They will last for ever but they arn't the best when wet. If I remember correctly they have a few more sidewall plys then the BFG's but the rubber has less grip. In all they work fine for the price.

somebody stop me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the Procomp M/T's were the same as the coopers:confused:

they got great milage, but weak side walls. I cut up a couple of them and it ruined the tires.

Pep Boys Futura Enforcer MT's are made by Cooper. Not a bad tire but the compound is hard as hell. Only MT Ive ever seen that came with a 40000 mile treadwear guarantee.

Its already been said they where for ever but they are made from a hard rubber compound they do real well in mudd seem to clean out fairly good but suck on ice unless you sipe them. Check out coopers new tread the ST not the STT it has a softer compound than the stt. Hope this helps some!

If you look at the D.O.T. Numbers on the Cooper Mud Terrains and the BFG mud Terrains they will be identical. You will also find the same tire under numerous other names, Wide tracs...
this one you guys know, Pro Comp, these are mde by Cooper, might be designed by an other, but they re mde by Cooper.
Cooper hs been round a long time. Quality is very good. By the mud terrains you will like them if you like the BFG's.
