: solid axle swap on 2004 blazer
racer3568 12-30-2005, 09:50 AM The wife and I put a 2' lift on our 04 blazer and put 31 10.50's on it. We found out it is fun to wheel. It has the power and a good wheel base. The problem is the IFS sucks after you lift it. I already need to replace my iddler arm and put new bushings in the front. So to keep my blazer from being an urban wheeler I need to do a front axle swap. I have looked all over the internet and I couldn't find anything on it. I am 90% sure there is no kit. Has anyone here know of anyone putting a solid axle under a 2000 and newr FULL SIZE blazer? I don't want to be the pioneer on this, I am not that comfortable with my fab skills right now.
Or if anyone can tell me ways to beef up the front my budget is no more than a grand.
Thanks!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v370/racer35/chevyadd.jpg
Solidaxlesub 12-30-2005, 10:35 AM first thing, your blazer is not a fullsize. its a mini. not to be a dick:D
second a company called fabritech, I think thats how you spell it. makes a solid axle swap kit for your truck. but its not cheap. uses a jeep dana 30 front I think.
I would use the search button for pics of some leaf spring swaps and do that with a d44 front. could probably use toyota or yj leafs.
racer3568 12-30-2005, 10:55 AM Well compared to the older blazers its a mini. But there are two door and four door versions and I was just stating full size to say I have four doors, LOL no worries.
thanks for the info I will look in to it.
racer3568 12-30-2005, 01:03 PM Does fabritech have a web site? I all I can find are fords and older chevys that have that brand kit with a google and askjeves search.
If anyone has done something like this I know this forum has the people. I have been an avide reader for some time and I know there are some knowlegdeble and talanted people on this forum.
bigyellowjimmy 12-30-2005, 01:18 PM I think the company in question is fabtech but Im not sure if they make a sas kit for your blazer or not. Search on here and ck5, its been covered.

Jamus2 12-30-2005, 02:56 PM Around 2500 plus axles and no doubt labor, I doubt that's in the guys budget. www.s10-4x4.org Read a lot there, get your fabs skills up to par, and do it for cheap.

badassfullsize 12-30-2005, 04:01 PM Here is my buddies SAS on his 2000 blazer that we did ourselves. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/515961
Thing flexes like a mother. Has a dana 30 up front with 4.10's
GMCTruxrule 12-31-2005, 09:09 AM Well, I don't wheel IFS equipped vehicles, and have never done a solid axle swap, but if I were you, I would seriously consider what it is I would be doing with that mini Blazer before I spent the money for a solid axle swap. Running around looking like an Urban Blazer with IFS isn't the worst thing in the world. If you have fun wheeling like it is and aren't overly hard on it, IFS will work okay. But thats just my opinion....
weaselzz 12-31-2005, 10:52 AM there has been a ton of sas s10 blazers written and posted about on here, just use the search function. It works I promise:D
89bogger 12-31-2005, 05:58 PM if you are seriously interested in doing a swap on your blazer, hit me up on my email pardycustomsandfabrication@yahoo.com i offer a kit to do the swap alot cheaper than the one earlier in the post

racer3568 01-03-2006, 07:21 AM I really did search for the info in this forum, I must have not put in the right words. Thanks for all the help guys! It looks like the wife and I need to put a little more money in the savings before we to this, do it right the first time you know. Untill then I will continue to learn about automotive care and do it myself with out a kit.
To answer GMCTruxrule, we just bought the blazer and we still owe money on it or we would go get another rig. We were not in to wheeling at the time we bought it and I didn't know the diffence between IFS and SAS. I have been a sponge in the last year learning everything I can. The wife sees me in my jeep running trails and wants a good rig to go also. If we do a SAS it would help selling it, would apile to the wheeling comunity. And it would be diffrent and we all like looking diffrent, but cool at the same time.
Thanks again!
