Ok I am still fighting this issue and am sure one of you will have the answer. I have a Chevy 350 and have replaced all the gauges in my FJ60 with Autometer gauges. I need to know how to hook the ampmeter up correctly? I know it needs a charge light or some sort of voltage draw in order to make it charge but being an electrical idiot among other things can someone actually walk me through this ?? Thanks and Happy New Year to you all....

I'm sure you probably searched but since you spelled it "ampmeter" not ammeter, the results were probably not very good. Here's the first result from google. http://www.houlihane.co.uk/amps.htm

Why would you want to run an ammeter and not a volt meter though?

My writeup on the Autometer guages set up on my 73 fj40 is below. I used a voltmeter though, and not an amp meter. The amp meter has to be wired directly to the battery with its own wire. IIRC?
