I used GOOGLE (www.google.com) to find THIS (http://www.b-body.net/Technical/Driveline/Trans/RoadSurferPan.html) . I used "slam guard" for the search parameters.

I'm planning to do this to my SD oil pan. all I can think is weld little, wait lots to avoid warping the pan. otherwise should be easy

I had the first one of those used in Ca. I met the Distributor on the side of the road on one of his sales calls about 7 years ago when he was in Ca. I like the pan alot. 3/16 skid plate across the bottom. I hit mine a couple times and it was fine.

One thing I will say is that the drain plug set-up sucks! They use a threaded plug and the hole is not deep enough to be tapered properly, so you have to teflon the shit out of the plug and it only goes in tight so many times before it winds up inside the pan. This problem may be fixed by now, but be aware of it. If you're not worried about a "totally" flat bottom, I would just tap it out to a standard drainplug stlye plug and use a washer. Mine worked for a couple years before my front driveshaft blew out and went through the side of the pan . I'll be getting a new one as soon as I get back into positive cash flow... right now I'm running one of those extra horsepower chrome goodies that I had to have as a last minute "delivery" from the last Axle Snapper leaving town for TDS 3 years ago.......
