yeah I have a Corrolla 1.5 in mine with a 5 speed from a Toyota too. Not too bad more torque than a Suzi and it was a lot cheaper too

Ive got the 1.8 in mine as well.

Ive got my zuk 95% finished, and we moved our race shop, and havent got organized enough to finish it up yet. I have driven it a few times so far, and so far really like the engine in the zuk.

Grimbo, dont know how I missed that you had the corolla engine in your zuk. I went to your website and gave your zuk a good looking over. Nice truck. Do you have any pictures of your engine in yours?

Jim

I can take some this weekend and post them

The installaion wasn't too much of a drama, the transfercase moved back about 2.5" so i had to have a new jackshaft made up between gearbox and transfercase using a Suzuki 1.3 and a Mitsubishi (don't ask) Ujoints. the driveshafts had to be shorten for the rear and the front was lengthened but I am also running rear springs in the front so not sure how much was transfer case relocation and how much was springs. The only thing i have noticed is it runs a bit hot so i will have to put a larger radiator in.

Here's a pic of a 1.5 Corolla engine in my Zuk
http://www.suzuki-4wd-club.rockcrawler.com/members/engine.jpg

A couple of problems I encountered on the weekend related to the engine were 1. On extreme side angles oil flowed into the air filter and even out of my snorkel where i have attached the breather hose and 2. The stock Corolla carb really doesn't like being bounced around

I think it is a 87 model and it actually came out of a Hiace van but is a Corolla 5k engine from Japan rather than an Australian spec engine which makes it a bitch to find any parts for like the dipstick because no one seems to know how long it should be for an accurate reading. Mind you the huge dent in the sump probably doesn't help either

my 1 liter SJ motor just broke a piston , today I found a low mileage 76 carolla with the 1.6 hemi in it. It runs great and seems to be pretty fast. I am planning on picking it up Friday , Shogun , is yours an automatic or stick - any probs getting it in your zuk regarding trans tunnel and middle driveline? Did you use the toy alt ? Thanks ! I was going to look for V6 but with my gearing I would be wound out too much for my 45 mile / day commute. Any info apprec.:p

some of the local guys are running this set up and I'm pretty sure to put one in mine in the summer. Mine comes from a 72 toyota corolla but their all the same engine.

one of the guys ran a 22R, this thing had some power he ran stock gearing with 33's and could spin this thing real good....down here we don't have any rocks just mud

the other just put it in it was a 1.6, he shortend the little shaft and took out one U-joint. I think you should keep the joints to stay away from vibrations but he sz it works good.

When you do it take some pics of the work done so we can all see what you do.

92 zukimoo with piston #3 gone, 87 tin top, 88 soft top

Greaham from memory the Yank carollas all had 2t and 3t engines fitted i dont think they got the 3k/4k or 5k we had fitted to ours over here.

But on subject i fitted a 2t 1600cc engine to a 1ltr zook and it was an easy conversion just use the alloy case 5spd that the carolla came with and you will need to cut a new gearstick hole and make some engine mount adapters.Use the carolla radiator and an electric fan and it will work sweet. I had never fitted one before nor had seen one fitted and it took 10hrs drive in drive out.
If you are a little Bootie Fab like me you dont even need a tailshaft made up. Just mix the U Joint caps on the toy and zook Uni and only run the one uni from the box to the T Case. This is how we did it and 5 years later it still has the same uni fitted. Sorry cant get any pics as my mate has now sold it.

cool!:D If I got it right , you took the t case flange u joint apart and spliced it's genes with the tranny ypke u joint from the toy. if it held 5 years its gotta be good. Were there any annoying vibes? It is a daily driver;)

Yep thats what we did and no vibes and a DD We had to just space one side of the Tcase up slightly to align the Tcase and box.

Any chance of emailing me a basic step by step? The one big spanner getting thrown in the works is that my transplant vehicle is an auto tranny. The sucker is 29" long. It shifts good but I am curious as to how long the 5 speed is. It may be worth it to find one though my wife is real keen on getting an automatic in it. Did you use the electric fuel pump off the toy? Any mods to the hood or oil pan?

Im running the 3tc in my zuk. I went with the 5 speed and just used the corolla clutch pedal to stay with the hydraulic clutch.

I did move my t case back to keep with 2 joints in the short shaft. Moved the rear axle back as well. I had vibes at first, but after going with a cv rear shaft, i can run down the highway with 33 13.50 baha claws at 60 mph with no vibes at all.

Im very pleased with my engine swap.
