anybody know if there was much differance between the 4x2 and 4x4 frames as far as the frame ends for the bumper mounts. ive had a nissan since highschool and always loved the truck, very solid power.. been looking at whats availabe for them and am not impressed with the cookie cutter parts. im thinking someone needs to make some good bumpers and sliders that fit and look good, if the frames are the same i can use mine as a test truck. which im sure will turn into a conversion to 4x4 and tons of other stuff. also think the gear options as far as pricing go suck too, anyone know why there so hi other than its a small market and they play on that.
Hi. From my own experience - I own '86 Hardbody 2WD and friend of mine has '89 4WD - bumper mounts are the same. I think this is not an issue if you got fabrication skills and tools. If you interested I have drawings of 2WD and 4WD frames and I can e-mail them to you. By glance - the frames look the same but there might be differences in transfer case mounts (the 2WD might not have them) and different front suspension mounts - but I could be wrong.
Again, I'd like to say that if you've got a welder and tube bender or there's some local metall shop - it's possible to build anything you want. Another option - would be something like ARB bumper. Check it out for Pathfinder ARB stuff. Pathy has different grill and head lights - bumper mounts should be the same with Hardbody. Here is a pic:

If you go with 4x4 conversion, I'd SAS it and swap 2WD tranny for 4WD tranny and t-case. If you chose to SAS it - you might just go for Dana axles front and rear and get the necessary gearing. That way you get cheaper ring & pinion and lot's of lockers to choose from.

yeah i was looking at mine and later found they are the same. like i said i am looking to build products for nissans. more rock crawler based, maybe a SAS kit as well. just trying to get a feel for what the nissan guys want for there trucks. nice to see the market get some parts out there, but in my opinion not enough. these trucks are way too over looked. always loved my truck, never had a prob with it. i have no problem with my fab skills been building since i was 14. any body with any ideas what they would like to see out for the nissans. all models please.

Everyone wants an SAS kit for the D21. I am sure you could sell a few doublers as well. Beefed CV's and bigger brakes are also needed.
