alright, what is everyone using for cutting oil on a drill press?
i've read of people using gear oil, engine oil, WD40, but haven't really found
anyone talking about oil made for cutting.
what do you all use/recommend?
I'm sure you can find a lot on google, like this:

I use 90w only because its so thick it stays put. Never used anything else.

I just use regular motor oil. I take all the empty quart oil contianers that I get from changing my oil, and drain them together. There always seems to be an ounce or two left in them. Over the course of a year, I get about a pint.

Save a bit of whatever's drained from oil pans, diffs, etc. Who cares if it's fresh, it'll have all sorts of metal shavings in in very soon anyway.
I imagine there's a marginal benefit to buying purpose-made cutting oil, but for the small amount I use it I haven't seen a negative impact on any drillbits.

i always use WD40 or PB, it doesnt really matter tho, but the thicker the oil the more it will smoke so im guessing gear oil is out

I use the smoking to tell me I'm going too fast and slow down. But I suppose I should try a thinner oil ans see what that's like.
