I have a chance to buy a running 78 3/4 ton chevy with a trashed body really cheap !!! My cj has a blown eng and a trashed tranny at the moment. I was wondering what it would take to put the entire drive train in my cj and if it would be worth it?

If it fits... go for it. Length is probably going to be your biggest concern squeezing it into a CJ5.
you wouldn't any suggestions on how to get started?

take it down to the frame, box it from bumper to bumper. speaking of bumpers your gonna have to lenghten it to fit any kind of rear driveshaft, so use some box tube tolengthen the frame to move the rear axle back. sell the 203 for scap metal and find a 205 transfer case. thats a start.:D
Thanks for the help!! I'm sure that there will be more questions to follow when i get started.

We can help you immensely with more info. We have no idea what lift or what kind of lift you want or have, which determines the fit of the rear d/l. Is the truck an auto? stick? 203? 205? The t-case is going to hang down a bit unless you install a clocking bracket. With more info on your part we can help much more.Good luck it will be stout.
I haven't got all the spec's from the truck yet (it was dark and late when i looked at it). I don't want to sound stupid what what is a clocking bracket?

what a clocking bracket is/does is take the t-case and rotates it so the t-case lays tucked up under the vehicle(better clearance). you cant do this to 203(as its just huge) so you will have to find a 205 case. if you can afford it, a swap to a dana300 t-case would be better(shorter case for a longer rear driveline).

Jump on it! I know someone that just did this, he moved the front 4" and the rear like 8" I think, it sits nice and low on some 39" TSL's, best damn cj-5 I've ever seen, just hope you can hold the front together:p
