I just got my center pins in from PM last night. and was checkin them for fit in my spring perches. It looks like the center spring perch hole is HUGE!! but I was thinking, if I want to place the rear axle back a bit I can bore out the other hole in the spring perch (the one on the right) and gain an inch and a half of wheelbase.
Tom, weren't you saying I should consider this anyway......
Here's the pic..

Yep, that's a trick that a lot of people do. You just need to slot the u-bolt plates so that the top of the center pin matches...;)

Wow, that's a good bit of slop there! That's with a 3/8" center bolt? Wow.
SOME extra WB is a good thing.. depends on tire size and such though, and whether or not you want to tub it.
I moved my axle back 7/8" with the rear SOA.. and the 33s fit "just right"at full stuff.
Now, 35s or 37s....
If you're going to tub the rear, you need to think about *that* now.
I measured 6" one way and 4" the other you can extend the wheel tubs without a lot of extra work ("extra" being building new center body mounts and relocating the fuel tank filler hose)
I just can't remember which way the 6 was and which for the 4. :-)
Assuming it's 6" back.. moving the axle 1.5" rearward would help to center it a bit better in a 40" wheel tub..

That would work.... but if your not going to move it, or not that much, I would be inclined to weld up that hole and drill a new, snuger one. Thats ALLLOT of slop...

Run a 3/8" bolt all the way down, it'll take up the slack. Tis what I did

Umm hows that? The bolt get thinner on the threaded area. and it's not threaded all the way to the pin.
The actual BOLT that came on the pin fits the hole really nice, could I use that as the "pin" kinda defeats the pupose of gettin actual centering pins doesn't it??

I thought that was too much slop.
I would assume it's back 6" also
Well I don't want to TUB it, and I'll be running 35's. I'm gonna be trimming the fender radius anyway so I could "adjust" the trimming to the rear to make it look "correct"
How does that sound. I think it should work ok.

His pins were threaded all the way down and he just ran another nut down. The nut was bigger and fit better.
I just used grade 8 bolts and nuts.

Related to that.. I found that after setting my perches up for a 3/8" center pin, I can use junkyard stock SII rear springs (w/ the 5/16" center pin) without even turning the center pins over.
The stock center pin NUT fits just right into the hole I drilled in my SOA perches..
Pretty handy when you're scrounging for a spring while in Moab at a Hotel.. one less detail to worry about (finding a new center pin and drilling out the old).
